Whats that sound?

I just installed the update for the F4U7 and the plane makes a terrible clanking and knashing sound like and old steam engine, and this with the engine off or running. What is it?
I had to replace the sound file from the donationware Corsair ,which works fine. Also how do you get Boyingtons paint to show up, every thing that is says to change in the new config file is already changed.
You guys are going to hate the fact I retired.

I believe you will find it is the "BOMB.WAV". Disable or delete.

I't's no biggy but how do you get Boyingtons skin to show in the new Corsair update?All the other skins are there and thats all I really care about,just wondered why I have a gray plane for the Black Sheep.Seem all the changes that were supposed to be made in the config file are already there.
 
You'll need to edit the aircraft.cfg to add another [fltsim.xx] section. The instructions are in the readme for the update, and there's plenty of help here too if you need it.

No gray here .. but a texture no showing ....
The texture
texture.nz5648_2010 is not show in the choice window .. only the other 3 are availables !
Strange .... as I have

The Markus textures (with no updated flight model)
And of course no show also with the updated airfile
We need Markus light on this one :)

Just a renaming of the manucturer in my install.. nothing to do with the prob
You can even rename the manufacturer "Lady Gaga" .. only the texture=nz5648_2010 will no show :)

If I put this texture alone in a different plane folder .. it's work :)

If all the textures are in a same plane folder and even if I name the manufacturer for the 3 first as Vought and name the last one (the no show) as LADY GAGA .. this texture no show :)
And that's very weird as for all the tittle is different and the UI variation is different .....

What if you have somewhere another airplane with that same title or some other problem like it?

This little program (ACA_2007 light) : http://aifs2.pvdveen.net/?page_id=5 scans all aircraft.cfg files and gives information of the problems. I'd be lost without it (I have some 2500 aircrafts ;-).

Thank's .. interesting proggy !
It's indeed a duplicate with the same name in a other corsair plane folder
Butt still for me a mistery how when the 4 textures are in a same plane folder one no show and if I put this particular texture in a other plane folder .. the plane show .. and the proggy show also this duplicate lol
Well at least I have the plane show .. but no need of two same .. lol.

This thing is more that I can understand,but it doesn't matter it's not the only plane that on one version I have a gray plane,the Fairy Barracuda has one plane thats gray and so does one of the Coast Guard C-130's, but I have the others textures ,it's just kinda a waste to have one plane thats plan, besides that the wrong model Corsair for Pappys plane anyway,I still have the others and they show their updated.

Don't give up so easy, once you get over the initial learning curve it's not so bad. With your missing textures look in the aircraft.cfg at this bit,

[fltsim.0] < make sure the numbers are in order starting with 0

This should solve 99% of problems. Other problems could be using a texture for the wrong model aircraft or FS just likes to mess with you sometimes and refuses to comply for a while :icon_lol:

Clarke you have a way of making things a lot simpler to understand.When I get adventurious I might give it a try.I printed out your instructions, so I'll have them.
Now if you could just simplify my finances....
