FDG-2 Donationware Corsair

Hello,

I'm thinking of springing for this package. In fact, I was going to, but it looks like the SOH store is down.

Until it gets up, can someone tell me what models/repaints come with it. I'm hoping for some RN/RNZAF action, and Dhasdel got me thinking of getting this. Any repaints for this (or the AH Donation Corsair) available here are also appreciated. Opinions about how it compares with the AH model, screens, etc. are appreciated.

thanks,

dl

Here are the RN\RNZAF versions that come with it.

The package comes with the -1, -1A, -1C, -1D, -2, -4, an -4B...with several paints for each one.

Far as a comparison to the AH one, I better let someone else do that, I might be just a tad bias :kilroy::kilroy:

I'll keep this short and to the point....

JUST GET IT!:bump:

As far as comparing it to the AH Corsair, that's a hard call. The AH version is very well detailed and offers versions that the FDG2 pack does not. The Ah version has very minor details that the FDG2 pack does not model.

But on the same token, the FDG2 F4U is great package. It has tons of variants, and even some that the AH pack lacks. (FDG2 is the only maker I know of that has done a F4U-2.) The sound pack is pure gold, and its truly a joy to fly.

As far as price, well the FDG2 version wins on two counts. First, its cheaper. The full mega AH Corsair pack is $45. The FDG2 pack is I think $10. The second count is that the money you spend on the FDG2 Corsair pack does right back in to this community. (I'm not meaning to dig AH, their products are well worth the money too, and the authors deserve to earn what they make.)

Great write ups - I'm sold!

The paints look gorgeous! Nice, matte finish on the camo pattern - lovely weathering. Perfect.

Gramps, I know the store is down - but PM me if there is a way to manually do this - donation standing by ...

I'll see what I can find out :ernae:

And thanks!!! Lobo did a great job on em!!

Which package has the -4B? My pack has the -1, -1A, -1C, -1D, -2, -4 and the British clipped-wing Mark II.

Nice plane, really... Well worth the purchase.
As far as comparison, AH is nicer on the inside, FDGv2 is nicer on the outside...
The FDGv2 version also comes with nice Solomon Islands scenery, so I would say... Get Both! They are complimentary - not exclusive - packages.

Thanks Ickie - will make donation and then pm you. Thanks to all for the great write-ups.

This model really has a loyal following. I'm a few years behind - I'm finding my inner WWII fan that has lain dormant since Elementrary school ..:kilroy:

Thanks again,

dl

Chris , you are right. Didn't pay any attention to what forum I was in :mixedsmi:

The CFS2 version has the -4's in it, not the FS version.

We had the redcross -4, so we didn't add them to it.
