I've just installed this wonderful offering & have one question...how do I get the B17 to steer using my joystick? I assume it might be a contact point edit but I'm not sure....?
Thanks......Christmas has arrived early :applause:

The rudder will steer it to a certain point, but for any real steering you'll have to use the brakes and\or throttles.

Do you have the rudder set up on your stick?? The individual brakes should work by turnin the rudder an hittin the brakes at the same time.

Hi. It's not like the eg., default DC3 (& all my other aircraft) that steers with my Logitech Attack3 stick? I've just got this Logitech stick........

i use the F11 and F12 keys along with the tailwheel to a certain extent, most authentic way to taxi the fort, f11 = Left Brake/F12 = Right Brake, along with powering up or down the outer engines (1&4) i believe in this case. thats E+1 to control outer left and E+4 to control outer right, get your turn 90% done then hit e-1-2-3-4 to get controlling engines as per normal...

Thanks for info but as it's FS9 I'm prepared to make it easier!
I've just been told to go to the aircraft cfg & Contact points, choose the 8th set of figures & change it to 55.0 or 60.0 (I've just done 60.0), save, & it'll steer like a dream....& it does :salute:

point.0 = 1, -36.8, 0, -5.5, 1574.8032, 0, 1.03218, 60.0, 0.273735, 2.5, 0.773963, 13, 13, 0, 0, 0

OK:

I did the flight dynamics for this plane. No WWII plane of any size, including almost all fighters had steerable tailwheels. They did have a tailwheel lock.

The plane is steerable through differential braking, as was the original. It is also possible to mouse the throttles differentially for tight turns if you lack a multi throttle quadrant.

The rudder (from air movement) was generally not effective for steering at slower speeds.

The differential braking scalar in the .cfg file applies braking to one side or another in proportion to the amount of rudder applied.

Cheers: T

Right....but I did say as it's FS9 I wanted to make it easier for myself. I find it almost impossible to steer these aircraft, so find myself not using them because of that. Changing that value means I can use them, that's all..... :salute:
