im sitting here looking for something to do,,,heard a wildland dispatch across the canyon, tuned to the amador/el dorado ranger unit calfire channel, and was listening to the airtankers....ONE lousy drop and they canceled...i felt gyped...was mad..was pissed....then i thought....wow...i must be really bored....im mad that they picked it up so fast......and therefore....the guilt....im so bored...i want a fire to keep me ocupied.....

i know just how to relieve your boredom. get into r/c flying like i am doing. the litehawk stuff is very inexpensive and easy for beginner's to learn on. http://www.litehawk.ca/default.asp
you can get a heli to fly in yer living room for about $40, radio and all. the airplane is for outdoors of course, but once again, it's ready to fly, radio and all for $100. of course when you are ready to step up, then it starts to get a little expensive.

I do a lot of RC and I absolutely love it.

If I can offer any beginner aynadvice at all it would be to get an RC sim first. Spend the money on that and not on your broken planes. (Crash all day virtually and it doesnt cost you a thing.) You'll save money by spending it at the start. :jump:

Secondly, Get a beginner plane first. Any of those "foamys" are great, fly great, forgiveable and loads of fun. I still fly my sky surfer regulary.

Thirdly, (this isn't an advertisement and someone please pull me up if this breaches anything).....but killerplanes.com offers "crash proofing" where they install a heap more carbon into your airframe. This has also saves me a lot of $$ while I was learning.

Anywho, hope we saved you a little boredom by giving you something to read, plus set you up for life with a new hobby. :salute:

RC flying is good IF you are good at it. I unfortunately do not fall in to that good category. I will say though that I am finally rebuilding my Align 450 after its last crash. I found out the other day in May they finally started offering rebuild kits for the servo's, so hopefully I will be back doing training as soon as next week. All I can say is do not do what I did, and get an actual trainer aircraft first. Or if you do go the big route at least get the training gear. :icon_lol: Also the PC Sim is a good tool, but I don't have that. If you do want that get a controller that you can use both for the heli/aircraft and the PC Sim so it saves you $$. Definately very expensive hobby though.
