FIFI

WOW. Thanks for posting this. Always loved the B-29. Got to crawl around inside Fifi at Chino in 1980-something. Fantastic video! I found it interesting that all the pilots have for directional control during the start of the take off roll is differential engine power.

Even though the young pilot explains the "amount" of physical input required to move the unassisted control surfaces, it's still amazes me to see him reef away on the yoke when on final, as if in a wrestling match.

You'd never guess, watching the B-29's serene movements from the outside.

Excellent video, thanks. Good website, too....lot's to explore...!!

Yep, it was amazing to see full yoke deflections this way and that while on final. I'll bet that takes some getting used to if you come from fighters! That was cool.

I was there and saw her come in and fly the airshow at Oshkosh this year. It was awesome seeing Fifi in the air again. Last time I had seen her was out in San Diego, at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, California, around 1998-9. Don't remember exact dates, but Fifi and the B-24 were there. Watching them come in with nearly all the Southern California warbird contingent escorting them was awesome. Must have been around 30 other warbirds in the air with them that day, flying right over my house in El Cajon. I will never forget that picture, nor the sound.

Thanks Curtis for the link. That's a ride unto itself. At $1400 or more per seat not many get to enjoy a real ride in her. I've had the chance to get up and peek inside a few times at MAAM, but that video was just the ticket. It makes you feel like "You Are There" and a virtual part of the crew. :applause: :applause: :applause:
