It has been miserably hot here. Even in the morning it has been muggy.I know it has been hot for others too but it is nice to see a break here for a couple of days. They are calling for 70 to 80 degs and 70 to 60 degs at night. YEAH!.Every customer I have had has been screaming at me because there AC has been down. We are two weeks off the board so I can't blame them.We are working six days a week, ten to twelve hours a day. I am a old fart and yeah it is taking a toll on me. By the time I get home and take Linda's dad his meds and dinner I come home and go to bed.My eyes feel like sand bags...lol. Every house I have been into is hot,hot,hot and no better outside working on the condenser either. Here is an example of a butte chewing.Yesterday I had a Central AC that was 100% down, The capacitor was shorted to ground. We were out of stock and we also checked to see it we could get it local, no go. The customer was livid. I asked her how long has this been acting up. She said it has been out the whole summer....lol. Well why did ya wait till it got to 100 degs outside before setting up a call....she said she has been busy.....good grief. She called my cell phone 27 times yesterday fussing because the part was on back order.I was almost at of point of telling her I can't pull the part out of my buttocks. :monkies:

Moe I always feel for you guys. The AC company we have used for 25 years has a fellow about my age. I empathize with him every time he has to climb into my attic in the summer.

Many years ago the drain line got plugged up with lint and, the catch basin filled up with water enough to activate the overflow kill switch. I had to go up there and bail enough water out to allow the AC to come back on. I swear, it had to be 150 degrees F in that attic.

Now, we have them come over in the late winter/spring and inspect the system. I think everybody is happier this way.
 
I have two central units, one for each floor. The downstairs unit quit cooling last Friday. Fortunately I have a small window unit, so I was able to cool things down. (My dog Chief lives downstairs, so he was happy!).

Anyway, I hadn't figured on calling any repair shops until Monday, due to the added overtime charge on weekends. But I got a tip/phone number of someone who lives local, and thought I'd give it a try. Called the guy up, and he came over to take a look. Ever since the problem started, I shut the breaker off. He had me turn it on, and everything worked just fine. Figures. Sorta like when you take your car to the dealership and explain a problem, and the mech can't find anything wrong...............

So that "repair" trip cost me $70.

Here in Mesa it's 94 degrees at 8am forecast to go to 111....

but it's a dry heat!
 
Ninety five percent of the customers I deal with are great. But there are some ya wonder how they even got a drivers license or are even let out in public...lol...Mike
 
It's been too hot to do much of anything outside. But it's cool and breezy today. Which means that I'm saddling up my horse late this afternoon and we're going for a ride. Yee Haw!
 
It's been hot and muggy around here also but that cool wind hit here yesterday and when I went to bed last night in was 48 degrees. That is a little to cool but I will take it. We have been running the AC for the better part of June so far. I almost made it to July last year before we needed it. At least the swimming pool is getting some good use this summer.
 
I just be happy if it would stop raining here in South Dakota.

We have one town here that has had over 7 inches of rain in the past couple weeks.
Its still flooded.
I have standing water in all of the ditches along the street in front of the house.
Problem is, it has no where to run off to, living on this flat land.

Now the mosquitoes are taking over.
Got so many outside now, you almost need to get the shotgun out to clear a path to the mailbox... :icon_lol:
 
My AC quit lastnight...... wanna come up and fix it Moe? I think it's the thermostat as the unit outside runs, but the fan inside won't come on to blow that nice cool air. :frown:
 
OH man... My city is soooooooo hot. Reminds me of that planet called Creamatoria in that sci fi movie with van Diesle, where the sun comes up and if you are in the direct sunlight, your skin burns off the bone like you are standing in the flames of the sun...

Example; I go out to put the car cover over my car. Dash out in socks (no shoes) and flip the mirrors in, then into the trunk for the cover, start running it from rear to front. Socks are getting hot... hotter... almost smell them cooking.. get the nose covered and then run into the garage into the shade like as though it were raining and I was getting out of the rain, but its extreme sunlight instead... I tell Junior (my puppy) to get in, and point at the shadow in the garage, and he finally comes in. He has black fur so I am worried he'll cook out there. 112F.....

Our AC broke down last summer and they had a guy out the next day, thank the Lord. Found the problem and had it running in quick order. (Outside fan froze up). Very scary in Phoenix to not have AC and have animals in the house. Cant let the cats out in the back yard.

I wonder if they have rental AC units? That would help in emergencies...

What happens when ya turn the thermostat to the fan on? If ya wanna check the thermostat run a jumper wire from red to green, that should turn the fan on. If not check the fan relay to see if you can hear a click on the relay, if not see if ya have 24 volts on the relay coil, if you do see if ya have 110 volts at the black and white wire on the high speed fan. If it is a HP you should have 220 volts. On the thermostat Red,Green and Yellow tied together will bring on the AC and blower on. Red and white will bring on the Heat. Also see if the motor bearings aren't locked up. If it is in the attic that is a common problem. Sometimes you can break it loose but I have found out in the past that is only a temp. repair.

I'd rather be there than the 90°/60% we've been dealing with here! At least if you're in the shade, you get some relief. Here, it's been a sauna no matter where you go! This cool down means I can finally sleep with the windows open again!:jump:
