Finally figured out SAMM,

Had'nt pay'd much attention to this program untill now, but have finally figured it out, great fun esp used with EZ scenery, this is my attempt to add statics to USN Sigonella in Italy, trying to create a 70's feel to the area, go for models with as few texture sheets as possible, Mike Stones and Ito's are ideal.

cant fly Migs all the time :icon_lol: cheers ian

...flyable AI has so many more possibilities!

True, for a proper scenery project, i'd still take the time to use traffic tools and make up some ai, but that was only a couple of minuets work and and has great fun value :jump:
cheers ian

...as long as you compile 'em somewhere that's obvious, and can be deleted!
I had a couple of splendid old (FS2000?) sceneries that could have survived into FS9, but had to be junked because the crappy old 20-poly statics were part of the scenery...

I with you on that one, i'd only use this prog for personnal use. I have a really good FS2000 version of Neuburg on disk somewhere, but but i cant get rid of the crappy FS98 F-4 statics.
cheers ian

Hello Ian,

good timing on this; I finally figured out SAMM with EZ as well last night. Did you have any trouble getting the textures on the static objects to appear? I had no end of problems where it was looking for them in the texture folder of the aircraft I was flying. After much hair pulling and scouring of the web, I found it if you copy the static's tex folder over to FS9/Textures, then clear the error message you get when placing the object, all works fine. I was very glad as was about to give up with it all. So now I am adding some detail and Canberras to your rather excellent RAF Wyton scenery. Am thinking of doing New Sarum AB (Harare) in the former Rhodesia next. Also have to say how cool EZ is (bit of a late convert here).

It was the warnings that put me off initially, could'nt understand where the texture's were going, now i find that if i have a copy of the aircraft texture folder, as it appears in the SAMM models folder, in my scenery/ texture folder, i can create an EZ-Library, just like any other object, strangley, i'll get the warnings when i initially select the plane from the drop down list, it'll be untexture'd also, i can place it and save, shut down and restart FS9, and bobs your uncle, its there, complete, texture'd in the scenery.
cheers ian

The scenery is by John Stinstrom, made before he got involved with MAIW, so there was no Ai as such, although he did include a traffic file, a really nice base to fly from, Malta's half an hour away, Greece is about a hour's flying time, and Italys great with the right mesh add-on.
cheers ian

Not all aircraft have to be ground bound.

Here's a SAMM object Sid Schwartz made for me for a new scenery we're currently working on.

The 'Worlds Largest Windvane' at Whitehorse.

Pete.

Erm, WOW!!! How did he do that? I'm thinking of all the gate guards I could be adding to RAF airfields, the drooling is embarrassing! :jump:

The aircraft and the stand are seperate objects.

All I did was place the stand in the correct position and raise the DC-3 to the correct height.

Unfortunately in EZ Scenery I couldn't place the DC-3 in a level attitude, but Sid uses Instant Scenery (I think) and he has that ability , so he fixed it.

OK, that makes sense. Yet more intriguing possibilities with SAMM.

same way i did the F86 in my Wittmund scenery, although sometimes bits do go missing in the conversion process---
