The website has moved - http://www.simsoftware.co.uk/index.php. I did have the Hurricane for a while before it went to eBay. It's a good model with a decent VC but two glaring faults that killed it for me - some sort of texturing problem on the spinner that shows up as black holes, and the cannon on the IIC are in completely the wrong place. Pic shows both. I didn't get the Wellington.

ok thanks, the new website doesnt say to much, i will have see if there are any pics around the net of the wellington, imnot too keen buying from that store with all the abacus products available there

First class are not developers 'as such', but like Just Flight, they buy and market freelance work. This means product quality varies a lot!!! The Wellington could have been a classic, but for some BIG issues (that should have sorted in beta testing) they seem to have missed a chance of a 'show stopper', the same applies to the Hurricane too, but on a lesser scale.

To 99% of casual 'shopping Mall' customers (who make up a large chunk of the retail audience), these are good products, but to discerning simmers (like those here), they could have been better. But hey, I am just a 'rivet counter':sleep:

I paid for the Wimpy and it is worth the money, at least in FS9.
Did the same with the Hurri and trashed it ........ it was just plain nasty.
:faint:

The hurricanes "OK" but no Realair Spit or A2A thunderbolt by any means.

I would not touch the Wellington from what I have seen even with your creditcard!!

Both the Hurri and the Wellington are fine for 95% of people. Unfortunately, the type of people that occupy SOH are in the 5% who will nitpick warbird models to death (and that's not a criticism of individuals here - I consider myself in that bracket most of the time).

I prefer the Hurri to the Wimpey - and those holes in the hub are modelled holes in the hub for the props to come out of! Unfortunately, the Wimpey is textured with something that is supposed to look like doped fabric. On the black, it works very well. On the camo, less well. On the metal areas...? Strangely it looks very wrong, there. The engines are not recreated in the VC if you look outside over your shoulder. Apparently that's an unforgivable sin around here, but most people don't have TrackIR or move their seat around using the key combos and would never know.

They do not come with paintkits, which is something they get distinct marks down for.

Dan did the Hurricane and I think also the Wellington. With a bit of luck he might still have the source files and might be willing to share those with some dedicated painters. I love the Hurrican, it flips the switch of my imagination and I think for FSX it's the best one around hehe.

The addons really are a bit pricey, so I guess you really gotta love the models. I got both Hurri and the WWI fighter package and I still fly all of those...well maybe minus the Zep quite often!

I bought the Hurricane - was very happy with it, still LOVE the scenery...
it took some tinkering with the model to make the gunsight useable, though...
I ended up getting the SkyUnlimited Hurricane for the planes, but I would definitely buy the First Class Hurricanes again as I prefer the sounds and scenery included therein over those included with the SU entry by far.
Which isn't to say I threw out the FCS Hurricanes - they both have a place on my HD. The FCS Hurris are prettier, but the SU Hurris are more detailed and more demanding to fly.
