First Look - Douglas O-46

Douglas built several different observation craft in the 1920's and 1930's. The run started with the O-2 and ended with the O-46. I did a few of them for FS2000/2002. I always thought the O-46 had classic lines of it's own with the elliptical wing and that long fuselage. This is a native FSX version, about half done.

There was a Douglas O-46 up to Skyhaven Airport, Rochester, NH until 2001. It sat right in front of the terminal building. A snowplow ripped the rudder off of it and then it suddenly dissapeared. I think it belonged to the FBO. It appeared to be in good shape as I remember it. Does anybody know what happened to it?

:wavey: Look'n good ! I remember back in the late 70's, Purdue's maintenance school had a O-46 being refurbished for what I thought was Wright Patterson museum. I learned how to sew by doing one of her wing panels. At the time it sure seem to be a big single engine aircraft. Sitting in the cockpit one could almost stretch your arms out and not touch the sides, and being there was really not a floor in it, if you dropped something it was gone. Not sure where she ended up at, never could find her being listed at Patterson.
