Flight Simming on hold.

SOH-CM-2024
Has anyone else hit the Pause button on MS2020. I haven’t flown MS2020 for a month. It started after I returned from one of my many trips. I got home and had no desire to fly. I decided to wait on MS 2024.

I haven’t purchased anything since the T-33. I haven’t upgraded any aircraft. All I did was install the new RAM and 4 TB M2 drive for my flight sims. All flight sim purchases are on hold.

What I have been doing is playing Skyrim. With the new GPU and a 65” 4K screen, or the Meta Q3, Skyrim is a brand new and beautiful game. I have been installing mods to make it even better. I have 563 mods, all working together. I am fascinated by the look and playability of the game.

Still, I feel guilty for neglecting MS2020 and DCS.

Not really hitting the pause button, but flying frequency has gotten lower to be honest. I do visit this site several times a day.

Then again, new stuff like the CS Spad XIII got my attention, if only because it has a Belgian paint in the pack! And I love the Spad.

I won't be getting 2024 on the first day either. Those servers are going to get hammered, and I'll wait for smoothness!

Cheers,

Priller

For me its actually the opposite. I was slow to warm up to FS2020, but now I am finally used to it and using it a lot more. I have preordered 2024 by my brief play with the alpha seems like there is going to be another learning curve ahead.

I haven't been flyingmuch because of my frustration with my controls only working on occasion, totally randomly, and not just one controller acting up, but every one I have for flightsimming. Since it only happens with MSFS2020, I have to blame the sim. Hoping MSFS2024 corrects the problem. MY ATS controllers work fine in that sim.

I downloaded the free DCS program on Steam, but have never loaded it, however my controllers work fine in P3Dv5, which I still have on it's own dedicated USB HDD.

Agreed on visiting this site many times a day, just to keep up with happenings in MSFS 2020 & 2024. I did prepurchase 2024 through the xBox app, (store) so it will automatically download when released, but I'll give it a day to complete. I have a 1GB internet, so I'll be able to do other stuff without really slowing anything on my end.

Not here. I just got done with a flight from Innsbruck to Courchevel in the C414. Getting into that place is going to take some practice. I followed the wrong valley and had to gun the throttles to hop over one ridge, but I managed a smooth landing. I need to do some laundry, but I'll be firing things back up again later this afternoon. I need to get some more time in the steam King Air too.

I've hit a flying wall also. I don't have much time these days with having a baby and a 5 year old. The little bit of 'free time' I get I have actually been getting into aircraft modelling (plastic not software). I've really been enjoying time away from the screen, although I'll hit a wall with that at some point and go back to the sim and then flip flop between the two.

Not here. Enjoying the new Seafury very much and doing some tweaking and painting. The canopy scratches are gone. I won't be buying MS2024. No need for more eye candy and tube liners. If it would switch attention to proper flight dynamics of taildraggers and gliders and lots of warbirds than perhaps.

I still fly every morning (for some @#$! reason I can't sleep past 3am, and work doesn't start until 7), but I am very much looking forward to the work and fun of switching over to the new sim.

I took MSFS 2020 off back in Sept. Cleaned out all the old 2020 files scattered everywhere that MSFS and add-ons like to do. Also scoured the Registry for loose ends. All in prep for 2024. I didn't want to wait until the last minute and just wanted to get the cleanup process out of the way.

Been splitting time between ETS2 Halloween Event, Nuclear Option, & Icarus, on the system. Away from the desk, getting some last post double-hurricane loose ends taken care of. Trying to get as much out of the way as possible before 2024 hits.

I haven't done much flying since Fallout London was released a couple of months ago.
I've been having far too much fun roaming round a nuclear devastated version of my home town, my only disappointment with it is that it doesn't include my borough :(

I have enough add-ons to keep me busy with 2020 for.quite a while. I have preordered 2024, but will wait for at.least a couple weeks after the release to.download it. No rush. NC

I find when I have a break, I have many updates for MSFS to catch up on that normally takes a few days, which means I can't be bothered and I play it even less.

My motivation to fly ebbs and flows. I can't really pinpoint what triggers the ebb or the flow, but experiencing different realities usually isn't a bad thing. My dogs take up a lot of my time that used to be used for other things (plus the overall aging slowdown). John, I think you will really be in an ebb when you start selling some of that fancy gear you have. That's my measure....if I ever sell gear, it's a permanent hold! (Speaking of which, I have a like new T.16000M FCS Hotas (with the $35 slider mod installed) sitting on my shelf that I will never use. If someone wants to make an offer on it (plus $20 for shipping in lower 48 US...otherwise let's talk) it is for sale. I not looking to be whole...just make an offer.) Regards.

Jay, I have paused flight simming before. I remember back during the FSX days, I went over a year doing other stuff. I don't expect to stay away for long. I will soon grow tired of killing bandits and monsters in Skyrim, no matter how pretty it looks. I will eventually go back.

Speaking of selling excess gear. I sold some not being used flight sim gear earlier this year. I was just informed by eBay that they will be sending me a 1099K. This means my federal government will be taxing me to sell the products that I paid taxes on when I bought them. #@*&^!

I've actually increased using it. Guess I'm trying to get all I can out of it before MSFS2024 is released. However, I've also been recovering from a hernia surgery for the past 12 days, so that's given me more time at home.

I just got the same notice from eBay. I was not pleased with their treatment of sellers and pulled all my sales from them earlier this year! I feel the same about excessive taxes....I'm now a resident of FL, no more MN tax shake downs. Obviously, I'd like to see fewer taxes on us experienced citizens.

Anyway, how about that T.16000....like new in box with mod! $50 + $20 shipping in US. A real deal!

I was just reading the new tax changes for filing our 2024 taxes. One of the new IRS rules is about selling personal stuff on the trading/sales sites. It used to be you could sell up to $5,000 USD before getting the 1099K. This year, it's ONE ITEM! Regardless of price. As mentioned, this includes used stuff already taxed once. The IRS doesn't care, they believe they have the right to tax the air we breathe.

I have sold some of my plastic models through the consignment program my local hobby shop does, but have not heard if they are required to send me a 1099K, as they do collect state tax on the sales.

Going back to my ATS for a while.

My flight sim hobby came to a crashing halt around three months ago, when my FS computer finally gave up the ghost. I will wait until the new year to get a sense of what might be needed to have an enjoyable experience with FS2024. Then, budget allowing, I will get a new computer built and find my way back to the virtual skies.
