flight testing the FP 51D

hi guys, maybe it's just my impression but I noticed, in testing the beautiful FP 51D, that the ship would fly in a somehow different way in ETO as regarding the "normal" CFS3.
I would say better, more responsive and effective....
has anyone of you had the same impressions or am I dreaming and if yes, why she performs differently?
best regards, gianluca

I don't know about the Mustang, but CFS3 stock aircraft actually fly "better" than they should. The Spitfire is a glaring example of seriously inflated performances. You'll actually find that as your flight models get more realistic, it gets harder, not easier...

of course!
somehow it seems, at least with this ship, she could fly better:
in other words, when turning and circling in combat it's easier to get in a spin or to stall hanging to the propeller and sinking through the air.
In ETO it still happens but it,s easier to prevent the ship to loose control or to get it again as the wings have more grip!
I know it sounds pretty silly but........for me at least it was checked out several times: much more difficult in CFS3 than in ETO to survive a combat with Me's or FW's

Hi Guys,

Others have said this as well, and for the life of me I dont know how this can be happening..

when we put the planes together the Stock planes FM were left just that, stock. the only thing I changed was the textures.

as a test, G. you could take your mustang from your ETO install put it back in your CFS3 install and see if you still see the differance.

one thing that will make a differance is the visual load placed on your vid card and cpu, we found when building OFF that the higher we pushed the hardware the easier the ai were to shoot down. this is due to the computer putting more resources into running the game and less resources into working the AI.

ETO does have very hi res scenery and hi res skins and other upper level settings which may be stretching your computer just a bit further than stock CFS3 does.

the other thing is the lower you have your game settings the worse this seems to be, as if the game code is looking at your settings and saying well this blokes machine must be low end as he is using 600 x 800 resolution so I'll put less into AI code and more into running the game. performance and AI does seem to get better the higher you set your settings. ie run res in the highest your machine can stand. ina normal game it would kill you, but in CFS3 the thing seems to run better.

just some thoughts,

regards Rob.

hi capt, at least someone telling me I'm not mad....
sure I'll try stock P51's from ETO in CFS3 but as my hardware is a pretty (powerful) one I hardly can figure it cannot manage ai planes the same way in ETO and CFS3.
moreover, it's the behaviour of MY OWN ship that is different in the two games/environments, ai planes seem to fly and fight as usual as ever.
both versions of CFS3 have been running with settings to max so I could expect in ETO, being more stressing, MY ship should fly not as well as in default CFS3 but what happens is exactly the contrary: in ETO she flies better!
some interesting matter to investigate deeper.....
