Flyby Volume?

Has anyone figured out a way to adjust up the flyby volume in FSX? It is clear to me that this is highly variable between payware and freeware models.

For example, A2A Spitfire has excellent flyby volume, but the Vertigo F8F is half as loud, which is sad because the Hellcat sound set they use is really quite nice.
