Flying "The Hump" - Burma China India (BCI) WW2 Ops

Come see how the Allies, mainly the USA, supplied China to fight the invading Japanese in WW2. The airlift supply route involved hazardous flying over the SE tail-end of the Himalayas, hence the name "The Hump". The job was done but not without significant loss of personnel and aircraft. My Professor of Air Science in AFROTC (Col David Hill) flew the Hump in C-46s. I remember him talking about it and how cold it was in the airplanes.

It's interesting to hear the tales of the PAS's...I had two. Lt Col Del Britton, who flew helicopters in SEA, and Lt Col Bill Calder who flew KC-135Qs at Beale in support of the 9 SRW and the SR-71 program at Beale. I got commissioned in 1983...and retired in 2012. Seems like a MILLION years ago.
