FlySimWare Cessna 402C FSX

I just got the FlySimWare Cessna 402C from them and I am really liking it. It comes with six nice textures however when I searched for new ones, I came across Cape Air which is a workhouse on the upper East Coast of the U.S. A Google came up with a lot of nice photos and some really interesting ones. If I was a better repaint artist I would have tried a couple more exotic ones like the Humpback whales or the Pirate but I also like this one which still challenged my skills. The aircraft flies beautifully and I believe it is true to the real aircraft in performance IMO. Below first is a photo of the real Nantucket Airline "Flower Power" and then my attempt which I am pleased with the result. If you are a Cessna fan, FSW is the ONLY producer of the Cessna 402C though Premier Aircraft Design did the Cessna 414 rather nicely for freeware and there are Cape Air textures for it though Cape Air does not fly them. The VC is well done as well and almost every switch is functional as are all the gauges. I especially like the "Hanger" which activates the many actions built into the model.

Very nice work on that repaint - I would be more than happy to fly that in and out of Bill's Nantucket scenery if you are intending to make it available (?)

indeed the FSW 402 is a good solid add-on. Owning several FSW aircraft, released before and after the 402, I consider this FSW's step-up model from the 'cheap n cheerful' 120 and 182, to the more sophisticated releases of the last few years.

Cape Air is a great operator to replicate in our virtual skies, as they not only have their NE presence, but have (or had) routes in the Caribbean, so the 402 is right at home shuttling around Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

I will be posting it here in the Warbirds (though it isn't a warbird) to share with all you guys who have given me so much encouragement to keep on keepin' on.

Richard

Well thank you for your generosity, Richard.
I'll look forward to finding it in the SoH library soon! :ernaehrung004:

Repaint Available In Warbirds Library

I just uploaded the Cessna 402C Nantucket Airlines Flower Power in the Warbirds Library. Hope you all enjoy.:jump:

Richard,

Thank you for posting about this. I was thinking about getting the FSW Cessna 402, and will buy it now. Had hoped for a sale, but (if they had one, I missed it).

Anyway, my wife and I spent a week at a place on Loon Lake, NY, earlier this month. We flew into and from Adirondack Regional Airport (KSLK) on a Cape Air Cessna 402. Very nice flight, both times! NC:encouragement:

Jeesh, Chief, You were almost in my backyard. About 60 miles as the crow flies and 2 1/4 hours driving (I'm near Middlebury VT)

As for the paint... Sweet. I have this plane and will be downloading momentarily.

Hey Chief, glad that I could help. If you wait until next Tuesday, PCAviator has 10% off the price on each Tuesday. That should help the budget. And no I don't get a commission. LOL. They're just great guys.

Chief, Flysimware 40% off sale just commenced @ SimMarket (runs for next 11 days)
The 402 is €13.30

You proud new 402C owners ought check whether you have the latest revision(s). Flysimware have put out quite a few for several of their aircraft over the last 12 months or so.

No GNS 530 panel in P3d

I've notice that the GNS530 Nav panel will not pop up (2d screen) in P3d V3.4 however it will in FSX/A. I sent an email to flightsimware about this and still awaiting a reply from them.

This panel shows some info on how it is activated - I can't get this GTN config to show in P3D V3.4

GTN_CONFIG_INSTRUCTIONS.jpg

No P3D

I don't have P3D so I don't know how to help with this. I fly FSX-A as you know, Pete, and mine is working fine. Mark at Flysimware is really good at getting right back to you though this IS a holiday weekend so maybe give him a little time in case he may have gone out of town.

I've found a temp fix till flysimware responds to my support email:

Capture.jpg

In order for the GPS to display, I had to mod out the panel.RDR_GNS with this info:

[Window02]
size_mm=456,378
window_size=0.5
position=8
BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0
VISIBLE=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
gauge00=fs9gps!gps_500,0,0

And as you can see, I get a GPS to display on the right corner. When I click on the GPS icon on the left (Big Menu) the GPS will popup on the right side.
Don't know what the REPAIR on the menu screen is all about or suppose to do' don't work anyway for me in P3D - they do advertise that this plane is P3D compat.

Sure hope the Flysimware dude/dudette responds soon.

Island Airlines Nantucket

The reason I actually got the FSW Cessna 402C was because of doing Island Airlines which operated scheduled flights between Nantucket and Hyannis, MA. and Charters. They operated this schedule until 2015. Their fleet consisted of 4 402's; 2 Beechcraft C90's; 1 Cessna 414 and 5 Cessna 208B Grand Caravans when they ceased operations with the Grand Caravans being added in 2009. I don't know if I am going to do the Beechcraft C90's or not but I did the Grand Caravan on the Carenado in my hanger. When I realized that they had ceased operations, I searched for and found the Nantucket Airlines textures which are here.

The Cessna 402C of Nantucket Airlines in the background is ai traffic from the MRAI Cape Air/Nantucket Airline download with HTAI Cessna 402C's.

The Grand Caravan is done using their blank white texture which is their paintkit for this aircraft. Both of these textures were a challenge. I was able to do the textures of the Nantucket Airlines basic and "Flower Power" with what I learned from doing the Island Airlines for the FSW 402.
