The German High Command just had to have a Triplane. They had captured a complete example of the Sopwith Triplane,and were very impressed.From all the subsequent designs which were tested, only the Pfalz Dr1, and the Fokker Dr1 were chosen for production,and in the case of the Pfalz,a production run of only 10 machines for combat evaluation was ordered.
