For all german speaking people here

Yes, I knew this site; thanks, CREAGHORN
Just went through some of the pics again - good for sobering up...
The pics about the tanks alone could make your blood turn cold.

es war eigentlich doch eine schreckliche Zeit. Jetzt sehr romantisiert, damals Hölle...

I'm told to be polite to everyone or I'll be banned . . .

How do you speak in German, while being polite ??:monkies:

Hello Gimpy,
certainly this link will not only be interesting for german-speaking people
But since i often seem to misunderstand you (being german, as you sure know, since you sent me this card all the way from the US, it is sometimes difficult for us germans to understand those from the colonies far away in the West) there are two possibilities of what you (seem to) mean:
1st: Speaking german is per se impolite :hand: :icon_lol:
Hrrrmph, it may sound a bit rough for those anglo-saxons that are not used to hear it lolol :icon_lol:
2nd: You mean it is impolite to call this interesting only for german native speakers, or you found it impolite that RWO2 wrote his post in german ?
3dr: It was a joke, which would be my understanding. Anyway i understand your east-coast yankee humour a lot better than the californian version ...

"es war eigentlich doch eine schreckliche Zeit. Jetzt sehr romantisiert, damals Hölle..."
which (appx.) means:
"It was actually rather a terrible time. Nowadays heavily romanticized, but hell back then ... "
I am trying to improve the international view at Germany, which is (strangely as it may appear) sometimes difficult in those war forums hrrrmm...

P.S. Still did not find this blonde named Inga ..:kilroy:

hi again catfish

the greatest teacher i ever had was a German. he was a member of the africa corpse and served under rommel, was captured and sent to Canada as a pow.
he loved the land and the people so upon his release he went back to germany, married his childhood sweetheart, and moved lock stock and barrell back to canada.
he maintained a great pride in his roots and his motherland. that being said he also took his job of teaching very seriously and to be truthfull i did not treat him with the respect he deserved when we first met. by the second term of the first year he had won me over with his wit, humor, and obvious intelligence in how to handle people;but more importantly teach more than what any text book would offer.let me just say that the past is the past and shall remain there.today is the new future where we and germany are allies.what it all boils down to is in my humble opinion is we are the same world wide in wants and desire, there are good and bad in all race's and who knows when the common people anywhere can be caught in a political nightmare they have no control over.
ps: Karl never did suceed in teaching me how to spell but he did teach me a lot about life in general for which i will be forever grateful.
what transpired over 60 yrs ago now was not good for anyone involved and let me end off by saying ''let he who is without sin cast the first stone''we are all equals and the same in every way. some just dont take the time to realize. this posts intent is aimed at no one in particular is not pro political for one or another country race color or creed but rather just my viewpoint in saying were all in this boat together so lets paddle in the same direction.
if it offends or hurts anyones feelings in a negative way that was not my intent. as previous posts have indicated things can be misinterpited and a shooting war is the result.been there ,done that, not interested in following that route again. bottom line, its a clean slate, so lets let the germans shoot down the allies and the allies shoot down the germans in a game and future games we can all enjoy.as my online motto always states.
''HAPPY FLYING TO ALL.''

I realize that English, is not a easy language to get the proper tense of verbs, it's frankly ridiculous at times. As long as there is an attempt at times it's understood. No matter if it's German, Italian, or Porteguese or Dislyectic English, The attempt is made

It was perfectly proper to say: if you're a speaker of German check-out this site

My ice-cream hit the floor, when a post was actually made in German.

I'm beginning to realize why the restrictions were so hard on you guys after WWI :ernae:

So you'd rather see no posts in languages other than English, if I understand well??
RW

Please post away in any language you feel like. It stretches the rest of us, and I applaud that!
Cheers,
shredward
