• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

To all the Dads:

Happy Father's Day!

And in memory of my Dad, Gilbert, here' a short poem:

<CENTER>It’s My Father</CENTER><CENTER></CENTER><CENTER><CENTER></CENTER><CENTER></CENTER><CENTER></CENTER><CENTER></CENTER><CENTER></CENTER><CENTER>Do you know who I want to be like?</CENTER><CENTER>
It’s not Roosevelt, Reagan or Ike.
It’s my father.</CENTER>

<CENTER>Who taught me to drive and skate?
Who taught me to care and not hate?
It’s my father.</CENTER>

<CENTER>The man I’ll respect till I die,
Who taught me always to try,
It’s my father.</CENTER>

<CENTER>He was never too busy for me;
He’s my ideal man, totally.
My father!</CENTER>

<CENTER>Thanks for being a wonderful father, Dad!</CENTER>

Happy Fathers Day to one and all.

I lost my Dad back in '95. He was young...only 55. But, I married a woman who came equipped with THREE dads...John, her biological father; Jack, her mom's second and third husband who adopted Deb when she was 4 years old, and Art, her mom's husband these last 25 or so years. Here in a bit, we will be climbing into the car to make the rounds to visit each of them.

cause that was the most honest thing i have had to say?

I see one my comment like that from you in here I will see to it....you will be ban for life:angryfir:.....now! can you handle that.

Moe, I think we should all walk a mile in his shoes before judging him. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a wonderful father.

It saddens me that he feels that way about his father. It saddens me even more to think that maybe his father did things to engender those feelings, which were expressed.

Almost any man can father a child. Not every man can be a father.

HundertzehnGustav, my advice to you is to find a way to forgive your father, however hard it may be. Do it not of him but for yourself. If you don't, you will carry that monkey on your back the rest of your life. That will only make your life even harder.

Besides, if you are or hope to be a father, it will be difficult to be a good one with that monkey still on your back. Find a way to set it down son. You will be happier for doing so.

Interesting thing, Father's day...in the US it is an "Official" day, signed into existence by Lyndon Johnson I think, 60 years after it was invented, purportedly by a Mrs Dodd.
SO: is Father's Day a worldwide phenomenon?
Ours doesn't seem to have arrived yet.
Mother's Day seems to be better organized...

Happy Father's Day yall! Mine passed away when I was in my early 20s and I'll always miss him.

On a lighter note, Mrs Willy and our kids went together and got me a new toy. I've already run out of grass to mow and want to throw rocks at my old mower.....
