• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

As so often happens, while searching around on the internet looking for one thing....will lead you to something totally new.
I always have enjoyed finding time period maps. My Father use to collect old maps so I guess it's in the blood. :icon_lol:
Anywho...If you go to the first link one should see a general map of Indonesia. BTW, this is the Danish Historical Archives I believe.
By clicking on a certain land mass it will bring you to pages with titles to the archived material.
These will bring you to maps and documents in their library. The last three links are files to show what is contained in these. Use the tool bar at the bottom of the page. The AWM documents are to be had here also, in limited numbers. :jump:

Very good find! :ernae:

(it's the Dutch National Archive) (And I never have seen this site!!)

So good! :icon29::icon29: (Amstel, of course!)

Kofschip, how did you know? I use to have a bookmark for this site that went bye bye with my old hard drive. The only thing I could remember was Perry something or other. Now that I've seen the second half of the name I know why. :icon_lol:
Thanks!

Needles In Haystacks

With some digging around, and about three redirects, found some interesting pics on Lae and its satellite field Malahang.
The Lae picture shows some of the defenses in and about the airfield. If you look closely at the shipwreck in Lae Harbor, there is AA positioned here also on the wreck. Now there's one to add to your GSL.

OK dvslats, give the websites where you found your latest treasures. I want to go there.:running:

Here is another good site, limited to the Dutch East Indies, Suriname and the Dutch Antillies (West Indies): http://www.kit.nl/ Look under Resources. You will find here maps from the 17th Century till today. If you want to download a full map, your average cost is 12.5 euro or about $20. You can download small copies of them as .jpg's for free.:icon_lol:

Well Kofschip, Australian Bunker Military Museum is where it started. And to be totally honest with you I really can't remember the complete route from there. :isadizzy: The bookmarks do not connect. This seems to happen a lot from onsite search results. But I was able to download five pdf's of New Guinea.
If you would like to see them shoot me a pm with an address.
