I know that a lot of you gents love the North American Texan...and who can blame you. The NA T-6 Texan is one of the most amazing aircraft of all time.

If you want a "Texan" with a twist, I have a suggestion for you.

Go to the Warbirds Archive, do a author search for a fella named Oldwheat. Look for one of his uploads for the North American A-27/NA-69. This "Texan" saw actual combat during the Japanese invasion of the Philipine Islands in 1941 and 1942. Equipped with a 3-blade prop and some guns, this "Texan" has teeth.

Oldwheat used the source files for Wozza's CFS2 AT-6 and produced the A-27. The modeling is what you would expect from Wozza, the VC is stunning with all the exposed structural tubing, fully animated flight controls and such, a panel full of working gauges. All animations work flawlessly in FS9. Granted, the skin is not up to what most would expect in FS9...but that is a simple enough fix...just make new skins for this wonderful bird. I have no clue how close the FDE is to the real A-27, but it flies very sweetly in FS9 without any real hang ups. I just had it up in the Oregon mountains and it carved those mountain valleys just fine. Could use a better prop texture...but again that is a simple fix. This model does not have pilot or gunner figures...they were placed via the CFS2 DP file to save frame rates...but that is only a problem if you look at the plane from the outside....you will not even notice the missing pilot figure when you have your butt planted behind the controls and flying this gem from the VC...as it is meant to be flown.

So, head over to the CFS2 side of things and grab yourself another FREE plane to add to your hangar, then take to the sky in this very unique "Texan".
