Force Feedback

I've searched the SOH Forums and did not find what I'm looking for, so here goes...

There is a section in (most?) a/c CFG files labeled [force feedback]
1. WHAT does it affect?
2. Can it be used to adjust the feedback felt at the joystick?

It is there for the Microsoft Force Feedback series of joysticks. And a few other manufacturers also had their own versions as well. It adjusts how the stick shakes as you taxi around over different surfaces, takeoff and land, fly the aircraft, hit turbulance, etc.

It can be editied but only effects Force Feedback controls.

Thanks for the reply. I can edit using a text editor, but what are nominal parameters?

You can compare those sections from the different stock aircraft to see where the numbers might start for different types of aircraft.

The Force Feedback settings in aircraft.cfg only affects ground forces bumps and lumps etc, flight forces ie elevator and other control surfaces are in section 320, Control Surfaces of the airfile.

I used to have that J/S but it self destructed, or rather drowned, in the great basement flood of 2008. I can laugh about it now but ranted a lot then ..... Darn I miss that stick.
Just remember to disconnect your outdoor hoses before the frost arrives.

For editing an air file, there's a powerful editor that's been around forever. It's AirEd by William Roth. Search either title at Avsim or Flightsim, mayyybe simviation....it'll show up, as well as explanitory texts from other authors.

Back up any files you work on. The first time you dive into an airfile, it may look like a bit of a black art. It ain't. But it will suck up time like no tomorrow, and you'll either become frustrated, or highly addicted.

Thanks, Magoo. Your comment about "sucking up time" pretty much determines my action. There are TOO MANY OTHER things to do in FS to get bogged down with one a/c.

So many planes, so little time! :isadizzy:
