According to Formula One Teams' Association President, all teams have agreed to withdraw from Formula One at the end of the season should the sport’s governing body, the FIA, proceed with its plans to introduce a £40m budget cap for the 2010 season, the BBC reports this afternoon.

Few details are available as FOTA has concluded their meeting on board Flavio Briatore’s yacht anchored in Monte Carlo ahead of this Sunday’s sixth round of the championship at the Principality, but Ferrari President and FOTA Chairman Luca di Montezemolo has made clear the threat to exit the sport is far from a bargaining gesture.
The teams are now meeting with FIA President Max Mosley to state their case, presumably with their own cost cutting plans for the 2010 season and beyond, a move that Mosley believes is unlikely to yield a realistic alternative to the budget cap.
Asked if he was confident about the meeting with the FIA President, he answered: "We will see. We are all together," he said after the meeting on Force Blue.

Insisting that the proposition to Mosley will be final he added: "What is important is that our view of the future is absolutely in common. We want Formula One, we don't want something else."
With both sides seemingly unwilling to back down, the threat of a breakaway series has gone from an unlikely possibility, to a real threat to the governing body and commercial rights holders; Formula One Management.

I really don't think they're bluffing this time round, and there have been plans afoot for a breakaway series for a few years now .......:jump:

A few hours on Flavio's gin palace, and they'd be agreeing to just about anything he came up with...

Hey All,

A few hours on Flavio's gin palace, and they'd be agreeing to just about anything he came up with...

Maybe even Max Mosley style parties! :monkies:

Don't know where this is headed but something will be worked out. I have to admit I thought the idea of technology versus money kind of interesting. May 29 is only a firm date from the perspective of not paying late fees for entering F1. Is that Mosley's plan? Just to collect late fees? :mixedsmi:

One comment came over loud and clear (and very confident BTW) from the Channel 1 network 'man on the ground' during the pre-race briefing and it concerned 'at least one major manufacturer' leaving at the end of this year .........:kilroy:
He didn't name any names but a lot hangs on these discussions.

Interesting snippet regarding the 'All American F1 Team' from Peter Windsor, seems they are too use the 'new' Cosworth Ford engine .....'Made in England'. :applause:

Makes me wonder where Lola will fit in :ques: (Heard a blurb the other day about Lola returning to F1)

Ed,
The question was asked during the segment about the supposedly four 'New' F1 teams coming in next season, the reply was brilliant, it more or less came out as "It's easy to post something on the Internet ....... much harder to do something concrete in the 'Real World'............... how true.
The Italian F3 team who are claiming they will go to F1 is a good example, Dave Richards is not prepared to confirm his entry (a very wise man indeed) and Lola are making noise but they tend to do that.
And as a company with a very poor Formula 1 record I (IMHO) think they should get all their Ducks lined up first.
Most of the noise coming from these people is linked to the 'Budget Cap' and the 'One Engine For All Teams' debacle.
The Silly Season is in full swing very early this year methinks.
