Don't know if anyone's interested, but here's a nice Mig15 package. I don't remember
what I was looking for now I just tripped over this. It's the second one down on the
List

Go to downloads, It,s a big file 223.96MB don't let that scare you it's worth it. Just a suggestion
I would use Kirk Olsson's Sabrejet panel.

Nice find, SpitXIV... I have it sitting in the maintainence hangar now and the FAA inspectors are checking it over. As soon as I get some time I'll take it up for a test flight and report back. :salute:

I was surprised too, it didn't look that good from appearances. but, you know what
they say about judging a book by it's cover. If you hit L it fires the cannons.

I removed the link because we found multiple payware packages being hosted on that site.

It may well be someone has taken action against them already.

The site is off line right now and the address resolves to one of those pages you get when a domain has expired.

Very strange as from time to time I used to go to that site. It once was a good site with an active membership but a little over a year ago they seemed to have gone through some type of regrouping and rebuilt the site.

If you downloaded any of these packages I would uninstall them. They were illegally being hosted.

Already done....:violent:

I was a little suspicious when the documentation files included were specific to Bear Studios.

I took a look at the site and saw a number of payware items on it. I have sent e-mails to a couple of the payware firms informing them of the piracy. Still have a couple to contact with the info.

I hate piracy, and I want to be sure I do not download from this website, as I use alot of international websites, I understand if members here do not want to point out this site in a public view, but I would appreciate a PM from someone as to the origin of this controversy so I can prevent further piracy in the other FS forums that I participate in ... I wasn't aware it was pirated, however the next time I find something like this I won't be posting it anymore. It only takes one person to ruin it for the rest of us.

I wouldn't be too worried about posting something you find. The vast majority of free downloads are legit. You won't get into trouble unless you knowingly post a pirated d/l link. If you're in doubt of the legitimacy of a d/l, the first thing to do is go through the documentation. In this case, it would seem that the uploader was short a few brain cells for not removing the Bear Studios docs. You can also check the aircraft.cfg for references to who the original author was.

Had it not been for Ferry's post I would not have known it was payware. I never heard of Bear Studios. This one would have burnt me also.

That site looked pretty legit, so it's easy to get fooled. I was thinking maybe it was oldliner's freeware MiG-15 with extra paints or maybe a new model, but since there's a folder in the zip file that's called 'BearStudios' it was pretty obvious. Even the original 'uninstall.exe' is included!

I have bought this MiG on CD and it is a great aircraft, well worth the money. Lots of variations included. Nice effects, great VC only the sounds are disappointing.

If you are still looking for a good freeware MiG-15:

The two bottom files.

Thanks for recommending the freeware Mig Ferry, didnt even know there was one here in the SOH :icon29: , really nice model and a great VC, could use a few East European repaints though.
thanks ian

There's some repiants by Sean Doran and this cool effects package over at Flightsim.

What a great find. After dumping the pirated Mig I realized just how much my hanger needed one (legally that is).

I've done my light thing for those interested.

Aircraft.cfg entry:

[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing
light.0 = 3, -8.66, -16.4, -0.6, fx_shockwave_navred
light.1 = 3, -8.66, 16.4, -0.6, fx_shockwave_navgre
light.2 = 3, -3.3, 0, 2, fx_shockwave_navwhi
light.3 = 2, -8.66, -16.4, -0.6, fx_shockwave_strobe
light.4 = 2, -8.66, 16.4, -0.6, fx_shockwave_strobe_2
light.5 = 4, 5.5, 0, 3.2, fx_shockwave_vclight,
light.6 = 5, 13.00, 0.00, 0.70, fx_Shockwave_landing_light
light.7 =3, -7.0, 0.0, 0.0, fx_Bob_smoke_B52_0
light.7 =3, -7.0, 0.0, 0.0, fx_bob_smoke_B52_1

Panel.cfg entry:

[Vcockpit01]

..
gauge28=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_gear, 1,1,1,1
gauge29=shockwave_lights!SW Lights_taxi_gear, 1,1,1,1

I also stuck in AH's awesome Big Panther sound set. This is from their FREEWARE Panther offering. It is from the same era and will really irritate the neighbors.

I was very suprised to find a freeware Mig, but a little suspicious was the file size. After DL I know the reason. btw the Mig is in my hangar since 1 year. ;-)

I initially got suspicious after spotting Orcas island by Georender (been looking for that for ages, nowhere to be found). After spotting that I decided to have a further look around, they did/do have what looks like mostly freeware. I did download a Falklands scenery, not sure I want to install it anyway, who knows what matter of undesirables might reside within it? I was perplexed as to the fact they have/had a shop selling lots of well known payware, went through every page (100+) looking for Orcas island to purchase (to no joy).

Figured that if they had a shop and were a vendor for respectable companies they must be legit, it would seem not.
