How high should my FPS be? I have a fairly ok computer.
Windows XP(SP3), 4 gig Ram (using 3.25) Intel 9600 quad core extreme 3.0 ghz processor, Sound Blaster Audigy 4 and a ATI Radeon 4870x2 with 2 gig of GDDR5 video memory. I’ve been up and down the different versions of drivers. It has no impact.
My framerates when I look straight ahead are 17-20 FPS. When I look to the side the FPS goes to 30. I would think I would have better framerates. As an example, I also play IL-2 with all the graphics bells and whistles turned on. My FPS stays well above 100.
I run OFF in 1440x900x32bit
Any ideas?

Just tried these out.

It helped a lot.

FPS went to over 30, which is glass smooth.

I forgot to add that I turned the resolution up to the max, 1920x1200x32 which looks awesome on my 28 inch widescreen. The aircraft look magnificent!!!

Thanks again!!

Glad you're sorted....now go help win the war!! (You are of course, flying for our side, right??? ;))

Good Greif!!- just applied the "tips" settings to my Nvidia BFG880GTX what a difference ! thought the terrain was going abit iffy at one point, but it was my Pup climbing through mist. Trains!..........Truck convoys!.......Stunning absolutely Stunning!

My resolution set at 1024x768 (Am using a CRT monitor, so not sure if this is relevent).

Hey Fred,

I also use a CRT. It's a 15 year old 21" and has a max resolution of 1600x1200. Believe it or not, OFF runs smoother at higher resolutions. If you can, try setting your resolution to the highest your monitor can handle and see what happens.

I'll speak what amounts to Mortal Sin around here. Check your FPS, I'm getting about a 10% increase, running 16 on the colors.
As far as I'm concerned, I can't tell the difference. But then I'm only running in the 30's :kilroy:
