Francine is coming to visit.

SOH-CM-2024
It looks like Hurricane Francine is headed to my home town of Lafayette, LA for a visit. We have not had a direct hit by a hurricane in over 20 years. So, there are many trees that need to be pruned or removed. Francine, based on history, should do that for us. If you don't hear from me for a while, it is because we will be without power.

Hopefully it won't be for long. All utilities in our neighborhood are underground. When we lose power it is usuafeedercause the feeded line goes down, and those are the first to be restored by the electrical power company. I hear that Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel is in Lafayette. He always goes where the storm is expected to hit.

We expected Francine to arrive Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Batten down the hatches my friend. Here in Pensacola, we will get a lot of rain from Francine. Be careful and stay safe! Pete

I sincerely hope that power cuts will be the only consequence you'll have to endure.
Take care !

You have my most positive thoughts and energy coming your way John! Be safe!

Be safe John. I hate it when a hurricane comes up the Gulf, because there are no big mountains to break it up and usually the rain makes its way to central VA in about a week.

Stay safe John. I have an uncle whose place in Fort Myers was flooded by Hurricane Ian in 2022. He was fortunately safe in Chicago when it hit but it took some time before he was able to go home.

John - Take the time you have to prepare and, then, best of luck to you. (In a hurricane it all boils down to preparedness and luck!) I wish you max good luck.

Best of luck, John. Hurricanes are nerve-wracking. Hope you and your neighbors are spared damage.

John, hoping for the best for you and all in the storm's path. Been through many myself up here in Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area. Keep safe Sir!

It looks like the track is shifting more to the east and we will get a glancing blow. As I write this it is only drizzling. There is no wind. That will come later. The storm is expected to make landfall this afternoon to early evening. I am sanguine we will be fine.

The latest weatherman fear mongering for our area now is that Francine will break up into two tropical depressions and the second topical depression will hit the Carolina coast and head inward toward central Virginia. They never let up, anything to make the old ladies buy the grocery stores out of milk, bread, and eggs like they're going to be locked down for a week!

It's their 5 minutes in the spotlight.

John, can you name another profession, where you can be wrong 90% of the time and get paid that much $$$? :ROFLMAO:
