Need some opinions for Scenery Mesh (Freeware) for FSX? I use a mix of regular and Photo Scenery Such as Blue Sky.

For just the USA? FreeMeshX USA LOD12 HD Mesh which is 9.5 meter per pixel size. Stock mesh is LOD10 which is 38 meter per pixel size. It's 50.92 GB total though.

For the whole world? FreeMeshX Global Terrain Mesh v2.0 That's LOD 10 which is 38 meters per pixel. Default USA is LOD 10. This one is 45.47 GB total size.

The name to look for is Raimondo Taburet as he has done freeware mesh for the MS flight sims for as long as I can remember. He may have done other mesh projects in even greater detail LOD 13 or better.

Don't forget you'll need to download vectors to correct any errors in elevations/accurate positioning when using any mesh beyond default. The only US vector freeware that I have found was back in 2016 and is known as Vector Land Class. The file name is VLC_Multi_Installer_1_031.exe. Good luck finding it though.

For Europe there is Vector Land Use Europe 1 and 2.

After looking through some much older other FS9 and FSX files on an old backup drive it appears I was incorrectly thinking of something that is not for USA after all. I stand corrected on the Vector Land Class with the file name VLC_Multi_Installer_1_031.exe;

Apparently that is for New Zealand only. Oh well, sorry about that.
 
A Lot Available

IMO you have to decide where you want to fly. You can find what you want by Google search for "Free FSX Scenery Mesh" and then choose and install where you fly most. There is a lot of beautiful ORBX that is free to download once you are registered too.
