Freeware vs. Payware

you know i find myself looking back at all the money i spent on trying to build a first class install in my FS9 modern world. Payware planes, Mega Scenery packs, Active sky and so on. I say close to 60% of my modern era package is payware. Yes it looks nice, plays nice, and sounds nice, but I am not happy in that era. My wife scratches her head when I say, "Hey hun, look at the new A380, i bought and couldn't really afford."

She tells me i won't every play with it.

That is because i spend most of my time playing in my Silver Wings Package. It consists of almost nearly everything being Freeware. 98% of it is freeware. And you have seen the screens i have posted. It looks wonderful, plays wonderful and is simply a grand joy to play in. most of the package was downloaded from SOH, Avsim, Simviation and Flightsim. The artist out there turning out product after product to a high level is incredible. I will soon, hopefully when i can afford it bring that 98 down to 97%, because I do want to purchase the Pilot Boeing 314. I just don't have the money right now, but that brings me to my next point. I am constantly updating my SW install with wonderful new freeware when i find one that fits it. I believe i have turned out a wonderful version of the game by using the high level freeware.

Thanks Guys for all your hard work.

Cowboy, there's good and bad in all of them. I am just choosy with Payware.

I only purchased one of the megaScenery packages and that was enough. It was not that good and it took forever and a day to load. I ditched it pretty quick and gave it to my brother.

As a rule with the later FS9 freeware and payware aircraft, where one notices the largest difference is in the Virtual Cockpit and the animation of the little details. Otherwise, a nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse.

I love them both and support them both in both FS9 and FSX. :medals::icon29::applause:
