Not much wind on final. Time to drive down to Nurburgring.

The famous Nurburgring race-track. It all started off well...I'm driving in #31

Opps...not looking good. Clipped that Mustang a bit...

What this dood doing here? He must be from a different class.

Opps again. I owe this guy a front bumper....and i think his left head-light too...

Nurburgring claims another victim. I didn't even survive the first lap!

Hi Feng,

I actually drive a Alfa Romeo GTA painted just like the one in the second GTR2 shot ( 3 cars behind you ) on the real thing once a year. The legendary battle between the Lotus Cortina (blue) the GTA and the Mustangs are just as exciting today as they were in the 60s. Generally we try to bring all the cars back with all pieces attached, so the racing is probably just a hair tamer than back in the day. The "Green Hell" as the Nordschleife is called is without a doubt the most spectacular racetrack in the world. And for those who just want to experience it first hand you can drive it for a mere 15 or 20 Euros in your own car most days.
Unfortunately lately the long distance racing on the track has been cut down for the historic racing series because of claims by environmental groups that the wild life is being disturbed by the sport. Bahumbug....the bunnies they are so concerned about can often be seen sitting next to the race track doing their bunny thing....while a race is in progress :D

The Mini is actually quite competitive against the Lotus and the Alfa...just goes like a Go-Kart through corners and with 115 to 135 Hp in the little machine they are far from slow. Sir Alec sure knew what he was building. Back then as now the races often are decided by the track layout...lots of twisty bits and the euro cars come out ahead vs the american muscle cars. If there are plenty of long straights and larger radius corners the brawn wins over finesse :D The scariest thing is to be ahead of a wall of Mustangs and Ford Falcons in the GTA going into the first turn after the start finish straight of the new GP track......they are all huge compared to the little Alfa. I always laugh when I look at the Falcon especially and think that this car was considered the light-compact car for Ford in the US :D :D :D

Where can I find that mod for GTR2 to bring the classics into the game. I have only modern racers in my installation. And while it is fun to run a Gumpert or R8 around the track....i feel more at home in the GTA.

Cool a car loving person! I had a friend in design school who owned that Alfa Romeo as well. We had a blast driving it around mountain roads. I never had a chance to drive at Nordschleife, but it's one of those things i need to accomplish soon :) Tho i better take a junker just in case...i've seen what that track can do to drivers w/out experience (such as myself). When i lived in LA, a lot of my friends and i owned Audis and BMWs (i owned the Audi TTs). We took them up and just ran the crap out them....amazing machines...it's sad to see some business man driving a M3 and don't realize the potential under the hood... those cars are bred for the race tracks...

anyways, I have an MOD called Power and Glory (version 2.1). However, you'll need the GT Legends CD to install it. It'll import all the GTL cars into GTR2 with updated physics, graphics, etc. It's a must install mod! Plus there are hundreds of classic cars you can then install into this P&G mod...

Btw, the Russian Bloom plugin also works in GTR2. I've been experimenting with different settings and so far it looks amazing! Here are some un-edited shots: (i just love GTR2! Bought Race On and didn't even touch it).

taken at Brands Hatch (my favorite track)
