Hey everyone,

[FONT=&quot]
I have a serious FS Nav problem that I hope someone can possibly give me some guidance in how to fix it. My FS Nav is not showing any airports, NDBs, VORs, or intersections. It is only shows the high and low altitude airways. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it and that did not fix the problem. I thought maybe it was a problem with the FS9 scenery so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. That also did not fix the problem. Currently I have a completely stock FS9 and I have done the database creator and FS Nav is still not showing anything except the high and low altitude airways. Any ideas on how to fix this would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.[/FONT]

Just a thought, or a check. See what the section below is set as in your fs9 cfg:

[MAPVIEW_MAP]
SHOW_AIRPORTS=1
SHOW_VORS=1
SHOW_NDBS=1
SHOW_APPROACHES=1
SHOW_INTERSECTIONS=1
SHOW_VICTOR=0
SHOW_JET=0
SHOW_AIRSPACE=1
SHOW_FLIGHTPLAN=1
SHOW_WEATHERSTATIONS=0
SHOW_WEATHERSYSTEMS=0
SHOW_DATATAGS=0
SHOW_TERRAIN=1
show_flight_history=1

Also in [FlightPlanMap], and [WEATHER_MAP]

This is going to sound like a stupid question but where is my fs9 cfg? I looked in the main fs9 folder but I do not see it there.

Nope, not stupid at all. In XP it should be in C/Documents and Settings/ "primary user"/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9 then look for the file fs9, it will open in notepad. Primary User is whatever you named yourself when you installed XP. Be sure to save a copy of the cfg before you edit anything. Or if you want, you can just delete the fs9 file then start the game and a new one will be automatically created with default settings.

If you can't find where it is, the folders may be hidden. Unhide them by opening Windows Explorer, at the top bar click Tools then Folder Options then View, choose Show Hidden files and folders, then apply then OK.

%appdata%/microsoft/fs9

Copy this into your Windows explorer navigation bar (where you usually see your drive and folder name - sorry don't know the correct term in english) and it will take you directly to the fs9 folder with the cfg file.

Sascha

Did you create the database when you reloaded FS NAV ?
1. Open up FS9 folder (Windows)
2. Open Modules folder
3. Open FSNAV folder
4. Open Bin folder
5. Click on FSNavDB.exe
6. You will see FS Navigator Database screen , at the bottom of the screen click Create Database

It takes awhile to scan all the data but it should tell when it's complete .(several minutes)

Crusader,

I've done that a few times and it did not solve the problem.

aeromed202

I found the fs9 cfg but the information you posted was not even in it. I deleted the cfg file that was there and I restarted FS with no change in FS Nav. After I put the information you posted in the cfg and restarted FS with no change.

Look in your FSNavigator folder for these two files.

Scenery.000 and Scenery.001. They are the database of the scenery that you should have created when you ran FSNavDBC.exe.

Scenery.000 will be 10 MB on a default install of FS9.

Scenery.001 will be 8.72 MB on a default install.

If these files are not present try running FSNavDBC.exe as administrator and see if it generates the files when it completes.

I will have some more thoughts if that does not help.

Dumb question but you have tried clicking the various icons on the side of the FsNav window, correct ??
If that fails you might want to re-run the database creator program that comes with FSNav.
It's a yellow icon in the modules folder if you don't have it from the start menu.

Cheers
Stefan

Sunny9850 not a dumb question at all, and yes I have tried all the buttons on the side.

Dangerousdave26 the two files are there and are the same sizes as you posted. The Database creator was run in admin mode when I created the database.

My last suggestion is (and after that I am stumped)

Navigate to the root FS9 folder normally in a default install

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9

Right click on the Flight Simulator 9 folder and select Properties

On the security tab look to see if the user you are currently logged on with is in the list under Group or user names:

If it is not add it by selecting Edit/Add

Find the log on name and add it to the list.

Check the box for Full Control

***//// Alternately

If the log on name is on the list make sure it has full control.

Good luck

One more thing those two database files remove them to some place else by cut and paste to back them up then run FSNavDBC.exe again.

Here's another question - have you registered the program? It's technically payware, and the map will empty itself after a certain amount of time or number of uses if you don't enter a key. If you don't have a key, then according to the letter of the law, you're out of luck, because support has been gone for (I think) better than a year.

Ok everyone you can all slap me now. Tom pointed out my problem. I forgot to register my FSNav :banghead:. I guess I was just so frustrated with it I was missing the simplest thing. Thank you everyone for your help in trying to fix it.
