FS2004 weapon effects

Good evening friends,
just wonder about the sence to add weapon effects such as bomb or gun fire to an
aircraft in FS2004 would have any sence?
It is funny, yes but as with out effect - so would any one be interested that these effects
will be included to a warbird in FS2004?
Best rgards
Michael

That would be fun, Michael.
There have been some aircraft , some Spitfires, if I remember, that showed guns firing & also the cartridges falling.

Weapon effects date back to (roughly) fs98 and FS2K. They became more refined back in the heydays of FS2002 and FS2004 but have since faded out.
You might consider buying the Lego F-16 package (dig around, its still available) which comes with some neat gunfire effects and sounds but you'll need to spiff-up the visual effect files a little. Basically, I can strafe targets that show the impact points and hear a neat BRRRT-BRRT sound. :indecisiveness:

That update kit I did for the ALPHA B-52 has interesting bomb effects, one of them is rated in kilotons.

Let me know what you're looking for and I'll post what I have, as long as it isn't payware. :eagerness:

Good morning friends,
thank you for your answers.
For me the question is: should I add weapon effects or not.
Actually I work on a warbird which is close for roll out (publication)
I can add gun effects triggered to the brake key (works only when the plane is airborne)
also I can add "nice" bomb effects which produces craters on the ground
For the gune firing effectssadly I only have forward firing effects. No upwards rear or in straight rear
direction.
AS to add these effects will take some more work. So I wanted to know if there is a real interest about,
before I do work that no one is interested in.
Best regards
Michael

There are many weapons effects - guns, rockets, bombs including nukes. You can find some gun effects in any of Scrubbie's WW2 fighters.

Alas, since FS9 isn't a combat sim, you can watch the gins shoot their tracers, watch the rockets streak towards their targets, and see the bombs explode, when the smoke clears away the targets are unharmed. We can make explosions but we can't really blow stuff up.

Michael; The biggest challenge is using what you have available. Most "modern" FS9 aircraft already max out the available lighting types and the SMOKE effects on other special features. 🤔

If you want to post something "halfway", add in the weps in the [LIGHTS} or [SMOKE} sections preceded by "//" and a "//" comment and let the user decide. Most of us who use weps effects already have our favorites. :ernaehrung004:

One other tip- For anything you can drop (bombs, torpedos, chaff, flares, etc.), its usually better to drop them from the center point (0, 0, 0). FS9 kind-of discouraged arming airplanes, M$ was still selling the CFS series so weps effects tend to look "wrong" from the virtual cockpit. Also, SMOKE is a kind of binary over-all effect while LIGHTS gives you 9 different variables you can use. 🤔

IIRC aeroplane Heaven had wing gunfire effects in both Spitfire and Hurricane, the SF8 F86 has as well, and also the aforementioned Lago F.16 and Aerosofts A-10

^^ I forgot the A-10. :ernaehrung004:

One thing about "arming" FS aircraft, you need to forget some bad habits and shortcuts (<CTRL> L for starters). So, expect some complaints.

For the guns I use the same procedure as on the IRIS P-40
it is triggered by the brakes key, but works only when the aircraft is airborne
for the bombs I will use the smoke key
that works quiet well on my Fw 200 C-4
