FS9 Aircraft carriers - where to find, and which is best?

I seem to have a dearth of aircraft carriers in my FS9 setup. After casting around on FlightSim as well as other sites, I found an update by R. A. Baum for a Nimitz-class carriers that provides locations around the world for the ships. I've tried to find the basic file for this update, the original file was made by Javier Fernandez and Richard Hogan. I've tried searching under both names in FlightSim and don't get anything back showing a basic Nimitz aircraft the update can work with. Does anyone know where I can find the original file for this update? Or, failing that, can anyone recommend a good carrier that works with rcbco-20.zip?

I've got Richard Hogan's original ARRCAB carrier pack of Nimitz class carriers scattered about the world as well as a bunch of earlier carriers all over too. I tend to like the old straight deck carriers though.

As for the rcbco-20, I'm not sure exactly which one that is. I use their earlier gauge set that works on any carrier as it's tied to the aircraft.

Be careful what you wish for. I had the same observation way back and enthusiastically 'added' some flat tops. I realized I over did things when it seemed I was within visual of one no matter where I went. Dialing it back helped immensely:icon_lol:. carr2006.zip at flightsim and other sites supplies a nice group around the world although the decks are rather empty.

Forgot to add there is a scenery group that has a carrier with a functional ramp at the bow for jump jets. It's here somewhere but the name escapes me for the moment.

There are TWO carriers available for FS9 with functional ramps; the Illustrious-class HMS Ark Royal (in two packs at Flightsim, taskfrce.zip and porthigh.zip); and the old Alphasim CFS2 HMS Hermes converted for use in FS2004 by the hugely talented Dave Garwood, think that one is in the library here.

If you're searching for the ArrCab carriers in the FS9 scenery section, try the FS2002 scenery section. I believe the freeware carrier packages were released for FS2002.

There's more than one version. The original release featured static aircraft on the flight decks, which were not popular because they were in the way, and because they locked the visual impression into a time frame in the future when the F-35 will be deployed in the fleet. A subsequent release deleted the static planes, allowing more latitude in the time frame depicted, and clearing the deck for operations by piloted aircraft.

Richard Hogan graciously allowed me to upload the ARRCAB carriers that I use here under my name with credit to him.

I think the latest version of ArrCab is 2.6. I think I downloaded it from Flightsim.com. In my opinion, much less complicated than the rcbco-20 package since you don't have to add anything to the aircraft for them to use the catapult and arrestor gear.

FSX ArrCab 2.6 arrestor cables. The FSUIPC
Simconnect bottleneck in FSX is daunting at first because of how terribly it
messes up ArrCab's behavior. Fortunately, ArrCab is tweakable and can overcome
this problem. Simple instructions here. By Richard Hogen.

The posted sim is FS X but it works just fine for FS2004 as the documentation states.
