FS9 and Windows 8...

Hi,
We have a new computer and it has this system in it......I think it has been designed for those of us with the attention span of gnats and an inability to read words of more than 3 letters. I have installed FS9 in it and it seems to work OK, but I cannot find out where Windows 8 is hiding the FS9.cfg, and I would appreciate help!

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Do you mind if I jump on the bandwagon?
Looking forward to some replies, as I'm updating my old PC and considering installing W8...

Hi,

I don't think that is how Windows 8 does things Mick !

Well, not with me anyway.:sheep: There is no AppData file.

Andy.

Aha...found it after you inspired to look again!

C/ Program Data/ Microsoft/FS9/ Fs9.cfg

Thanks.

Andy.

Interesting.

Andy, I just answered your question in the FSX forum. I have both FSX Acceleration and FS9 running under Windows 8.

The FS9.cfg and FSX.cfg are in their respective folders as Mick described. There is a FSX folder under the Program Data folder, but that only contains the scenery.cfg and other scenery folders for FSX. No folder for FS9.

This works me for what its worth, once you locate your cfg for whatever sim, send a shortcut to your desktop, and backup a copy on a flashdrive.
I update my backup copies every few weeks or so.

The AppData folder is a hidden file which you need to make visible. To do this open Windows Explorer and click on view\Options\Change Folder and Search Options\View\Show hidden files, folders and hidden drives.
