FS9.cfg and end of flight problem....

Hi,
My FS9.cfg (in the App folder) has renamed itself to FS9.exe.cfg for some reason and even if I delete it, comes back the same; another problem which may be associated, it that at the end of a flight, instead of the box where you can fill in miles flown a window appears saying FS9 has to close and so I am guessing that something has got corrupted. Is there somewhere on the Discs that might reload just that bit? Any thoughts appreciated.

Yes I have. Perhaps it's time for a re-install and just add in what I use.

I just realised what you said, so instead of deleting it I renamed it, but it just loaded itself as FS9.exe again! and everything went back to the default .

Even though it calls itself FS9.exe in the App folder it is FS9.cfg and is just the same Notepad thingy it should be. But when I renamed it another .exe file was created beside the one I had renamed...

By any chance are you running Win 10? If so, I'm wondering if this is just an OS peculiarity. If the file does what it's supposed to do, I'd let it ride.
 
There is a windows setting that allows you to see the file extension name of known file types.

If you have the system at default and "do not show known file types" then you will not see the .exe and the name of the file.

Therefore if you for some reason renamed the fs9.exe file to fs9.exe the file name would actually be fs9.exe.exe.

This would cause the fs9.cfg file to be named fs9.exe.cfg.

Now that sounds like a plausible reason. I would never have thought of that! Good lateral thinking!

Very odd..I thought I'd replied to the thread, but it's gone AWOL !
I haven't changed anything or fiddled about; I think it was something I've d/loaded that overwrote/affected some stuff, but it's the first time FS9 doesn't show or keep the flight time or write in the LOGBOOK in FSFiles.Strangely enough it does allow the saving of flights, so it must be some tiny quirk has arrived and has decided to cause small problems.
The Aircraft State is still being written up in the AppData alongside the renamed FS9 cfg. Head going round a bit with it:dizzy: !
