FS9 crashes when reseting flight

Hi all, I recently downloaded the Gloster Grebe ,and Gloster Gamcock, from the Classic British Aircraft site.
When I reset flight I get a black screen ,with the usual error message "Microsoft has encounted a problem has to close." I also have the same problem with Lynn and Bill Lyons Piper Tripacer ,though not as often, there may be other's but since I have well over a hundred planes ,and haven't had a chance to fly them all I don't know if any other's do this.
The planes I have flown have not had this happen.
Aso with the Gamecock and Grebe , sometimes the smoke effect makes the planes partly disappear but not always.
Also the black screen sometimes goes away but the plane then goes back to the default Cessna 172 ,instead of the British plane or Tripacer when I hit reset flight.
Anyone have any ideas as to what might cause this?
I've flown a lot of differnt planes and these are the first that I've encountered that ,do this. Thanks

I know I'm not as knowledgeable as many folks here but in the past I have found that a gauge problem will kick FS9 in the seeds and close it down. Try uninstalling the recent addons you said you put in and see if all goes well. If it does I recommend the scientific approach-add things back step-wise until the problem reappears. You could then try swapping a similar panel from something that works cause I don't know much about editing panels.
As for the smoke hiding the plane it could just be the system playing catch-up. In those microseconds the graphics sometimes clears a place for the smoke-hiding things-then fills in the smoke.
Lastly never delete the default Cessna or Flight. When FS gets flustered it depends on that pair to get you going. I keep a copy of those plus a good game CFG just in case. Hope this all explains some things.

Thanks for the reply ,Aeromed, I uninstalled the planes,(the Gamecock and Greb. share the same panel) and haven't encountered the problem yet .I know the Grebe and Gamecock share the same panel but the Tripacer does not.
I never delete the Flight till after I'am done flying, and would never consider deleting the default Cessna 172.
I also do not know any thing about editing panels,so I put the same planes in again and the problem game back again. It's nothing I can't live with and I like these planes so it's more of a nuisance than any else.
Thanks again

Seems like it at least got rid if the problem, but the planes too? You can often just browse for another panel and copy and overwrite the bad panel and voila it works. You dont need to edit anything except to check that the aircraft.cfg has the same 'panel=' as the panel folder name you just put in.

For example if the cfg looks like 'panel=' then it will accept a folder mamed 'panel' just as it is. Give it a try anyway, and maybe start a thread about basic panel editing. The problem may be something else but this is an easy check. Good luck.

I don't know for sure if the panels are at fault, and I don't know how to edit a panel file.Sounds like I may be over my head on this one.
Also I haven't found a panel that would suit the two British planes or a vc panel for the Tripacer.
Thanks for trying to help but I guess I'll have to live with this if I want those planes,(and I do)

Hi Hurricane3, I have the two Glosters, but fotunately don't suffer from similar problems. I have noticed that there is a backup panel.cfg in the panel folder and an FSX cfg as well. It may be worth checking that you have the correct cfg operating or try swapping them? it may be worth a try.

I have had a problem with creating a flight only to find that FS9 has decided to load what it likes, no idea why though and of aeroplanes being 'cloaked' by effects smoke, again, no idea why

I'll check out what I can but thought the FSX cfg. was only for FSX flight sim.
As for the smoke I had the same problem when my entire sim was corrupted from some scenery I installed, but that was happining with all planes all the time.
This time so far only these three planes have this vanishing act and the not all the time.
The first problem ,with all the planes doing this ,I fixed it by going to disk one (I think)and installing an effects file from there again I,think that was it but it's been a while since I did this ,so I;am not sure what I did.
As for the CTD and black screen ,I remember having the same proplem with some planes from CFS2 and I fixed that by deleting the BDP files?,but that was a combat sim and these planes don't have this type of file.I do rember that after deleting the BDP file the sim created a new one and it was ok after that.
Thanks so much for you helpfulll comments.

I didn't mean try the FSX cfg. There are two FS9 panel cfg's, one of which, for some reason, is a backup one and is slightly different, I meant it may be worth trying backing up the original cfg and renaming the backup one.

Funnily enough, for some strange reason, I suddenly had the urge to fly the Gamecock, but it had a sulk and went all quiet on me, no sound at all. I closed FS9 and restarted it and it was fine, wierd or what?

Ok, yes I misunderstood you,my fault not yours,I'll take a look at the Gamecock folder and see what I come up with.

Tried backing up the panel folder and renameing the backup panel, didn't seem to help, funny thing it I checked the Tripacer and it has four panel folders. So we might be on the right track, I may have not done the panel files for the Gamecock right ,but like you said ,wierd or what?
