FSD Cessna 0-2A

Just wondering if anyone is flying the FSD O-2A (FSX version) and is it considered a true FSX model . I don't own the FS9 version so this would be the standalone FSX version on their site. I saw that there is an upgrade to the FS9 model. Currently using SP2 .

It's a portover...

...I asked Jim Goldman that question yesterday, and he confirmed that it is a portover. But frankly, as a guy who owns the 337/O-2 and who flies it in FSX, I think it's a pretty good airplane and worth the price--even as a portover!

Just my .02 cents.

Kent

It is not currently a true FSX model. Although I have it installed, I don't use it because there are a number of transparency issues with the panel. That's one I might consider getting (even after the serious issues I've had with certain members of FSD in the past), as is their Navajo, when that becomes true FSX.

Thanks for the replies . Still giving it some serious consideration . I currently have 5 or 6 postovers that fly well , visually have no serious defects .

Thanks again ,

Rich:ernae:

the 337 is my all time favorite aircraft. if i could get a good one of those for fsx, i might never fly another airplane ever again. if someone does make one, and they don't put a decent a/p in there, i'm gonna freak out.:banghead:

If time permits...:d (We will do it)

We will update the 337 and O2A to FSX SP2 standards with all the goodies you would expect..... please hand in there.

Best

5 or 6? I have over 120 airplanes in my FSX hangar and 2/3 of those are portovers, lol.

HI , my name is Bruce and i use portovers ..... {hi bruce} :icon_lol:

A lot of the aircraft in my hanger are ported too and work just fine in FSX. Sure there are the usual prop/cloud issues, but since I usually fly from the VC, it's not very noticable. I have the FSD O-2 and it's one of my favorites. I keep it based at the AS Bien Hoa AB package, and it's perfect for those over-the-treetop recon flights... (Remember BAT-21?) :wiggle:

I have the O-2 installed into FSX (SP-1) and don't really use it because of the VC panel transparency issue. It's a shame this happens in FSX because I used the FS9 plane regularly in FS9. Sounds are relatively accurate to the real thing.

FSD did a great job in general with the O-2, but when asked about the panel issue you recieve a "form letter" type canned response explaining how your system lacks sufficient resources to run the plane and have the panel show up correctly. Well thats not the issue...but?

Wish someone had a fix or FSD would seriously address this issue because the FSD Oscar Duce stands alone in it's virtual field.

I fly in a actual O-2 here in SW Florida...see pic of me lifting weights

I've been flying the O-2 for ages and don't have any issues with it--using sp2 and acceleration. Just don't try to use it in DX10 mode. Also, they have some dds textures available for it and they work great. Not bad for a port over.

Cool pic, I'm building a homebuilt and have plans to install the sight off of my dad's old 0-2 (the one at the Pima air museum) in it. I've practically got the entire cockpit off an 0-2 in front of my desk right now. Check out the sight though(from a combat 0-2 that was shot down and then fixed from vietnam):

As with Airfighterjohn, I've been flying the O-2 in FSX/Accel for a long time with no issues at all. Maybe the "fix" you're looking for is to upgrade to Accel??

Thats great news - it will be a delight to add it to my amex statement!

That's interesting, because the reason I uninstalled the O-2 (but not the 337s) was because the O-2 suffered terribly from gaping gaps in the panel with Accel, but the 337s don't.
