FSD Cessna 337

Has anyone bought the FSD Cessna 337 Skymaster on the CD instead of a download? Just wondering how that worked out.

I'd be curious too... I prefer the CD versions when available rather than chasing downloads and licenses at a later date.

I hope I didn't screw up but I just ordered the CD versions. I got a new window pop up with downloads and sent off an e-mail asking if this was in error or what. We'll see.

It's good. I Just got an e-mail from FSD. Those download links are part of an automated response to a purchase and don't have to be used as the CD will be mailed.

Whew, had me worried for a bit there. :ernae:

Now to go look for O-2 paints :d.

I've had the 337 for a couple of years but wanted the O-2 as well. Getting them on CD is just icing on the cake.

The FSD Cessna 337H is my go to GA aircraft. If I'm going to fly GA, it'll be in the Skymaster. Right now it's getting ready for a flight from London to Melbourne later this month.

Thanks for the links to the repaints. I didn't have those for the 337.

I haven't forgot this. Still waiting on my CD to show up in the mail. It's been a long two weeks.

I bought the O-2 when it first came out. It was at a discount because I already had the 337. Anyone who seen a real O-2 knows that they have rack(s) in the back for radios since it was an FAC aircraft. This one just had a bench seat. Maybe they fixed that? If so I might install it in FSX.

Bought the FSD 337/O-2 Combo pack on sale couple days ago. Did the Instant download and all worked great. Paid $24.95 for three great models (O-2, 337D, 337H). Also includes a program that penalizes you for abusing the aircraft with failures and shows fuels costs, maintnance, etc. I Love it.:ernae:

sctybdy,

I too bought the combo pack, but used the download and cannot get the O-2 to work. The 337 works great in FSX, but the O-2 causes FSX to stop working and eventually CTD. I have emailed FSD numerous times and only got one canned reply about disabling avg and windows programs, which I didn't do for the 337 and figured wouldn't have to for the O-2. Anyway, have you physically flown both birds in FSX? If so, care to send me a PM on how you installed it?

Thanks
Matt

Just got my CDs in the mail. One each for the 337 and O-2. Apparently the reason it takes so long to get them is that they're sent out from Australia. Anyway I'm off to install!

The O-2 installs beautifully from the CD. Just had to use my license # and password from the original e-mail I got from FSD. I've put the CDs up in the tin box that my FS9 came in for safe keeping. Took the O-2 up for a test flight and it's great. I see a it getting a lot of hours in the future.

The only hitches so far is that I'm have to browse to the FSD 0-2 aircraft folder each time to use the Load Manager (my older install of the 337 spoiled me I guess) and I can't seem to get the installer to work on the two O-2 paints I downloaded from FSD. I'm not giving up on them though. I did get the two paints I'd downloaded from FlightSim installed easily enough using the Load Manager.

I'm to have gotten them on CD instead of the usual download method. Not only do I have a pair of great aircraft, but there shouldn't be any re-install problems should some untoward happen to my FS install. :d

:ernae: to FSD!

I have the FSD Porter and am very pleased with it.
How do the Cessnas compare?
I might be tempted with the all-in-one offer from FSD...

I've had the FSD C337 Skymaster for quite a while and it's one of my favorites. Enough so that I've entered it in the Modern GA class for the MacRobertson London to Melbourne commemorative race that starts next week. I don't figure I'll stand much of a chance against the turboprops, but I'm in it for the fun anyway.

The Skymasters are the only FSD products that I own so I can't really compare them to the Porter. The main reason I bought it in the first place was that I've always liked the Skymaster's design and I was wanting one with a VC which Mike Stone's freeware 337 lacks. Like I said, the FSD version is a favorite of mine and if Milton's Beech 18 isn't currently my default a/c then the Skymaster is.

Good enough, thanks Willy.
Off I go then.
EDIT:
Done!
The purchase process has been improved somewhat since I bought the Porter...half an hour to download, activate, have a little play, and post a screenshot.
Looks promising; wow no engine torque effects!

I do have a little question...
I downloaded the repaints from the FSD site, mentioned above.
It's an executable, and as soon as it installed, there was furious disk activity which just kept on going.
Curious, I had a little look.
The installer had placed an executable file in a temp directory, called mclMgr.exe, which was rummaging through the contents of my hard drive:
Filemon.jpg

I killed it just to make sure, and re-installed the paint.
Boom, there it was again.

I don't mind sharing information with a commercial outfit - if they ask first, and if it has relevance to their product.
But I do object MOST STRONGLY to malware that installs itself without permission and does stuff on my machine.

Now I know that FSD looks at this forum - I just told them - and would like to hear from them what this might be all about.

I didn't have that problem with any of the free paints I downloaded from FSD. The 337 paints installed just fine. I've yet to get the O-2 paints to play nice. The installers are saying that my FS9 install is not my FS9 install. And they're not giving the option to install to a temp folder.
