FSX Bombardier Global Express XRS

I seen a new true fsx aircraft over at flightsim today and now wondering what the reviews are. The wide screen panel sounds fun.

I just installed it and did a quick walk-around. If it flies as good as it looks it's a keeper for me!

I hope everyone enjoys it. Richie spent almost two years working on it. I spent the last month adding a bit of "bling" to the model and gauges Richie scripted.

FSX Bombardier Global Express XRS - FSX native model. The Global Express is a growth from the Challanger 601 series. The Global Express cruises at an airspeed of 488 knots and has a maximum altitude of 51,000 feet. The aircraft is powered by two BMW/Rolls Royce BR700-710A2-20 turbofan engines, rated at 14,750 pounds takeoff thrust. The cockpit features the Primus 2000 system. This package contains both 4:3 and wide-screen 2D panels, as well as a fully interactive virtual cockpit. The gauge system was designed to use the freeware FMS by Garett Smith. My apologies in bringing out this old thread. I'm trying to merge the default CRJ-700 cockpit to this one by following the instructions found at

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17996209

but I end up having a weird VC. Is there something that the instructions missed? Also, my apologies to the XRS original panel designers. I'm trying to use the FSX default not because the original panels are no good, but it is just that I'm not competent enough to fly it.

i just downloaded this model to see what it is like.

my instincts tell me that it doesn't look like this for you guys:

can anyone tell me what i did wrong, or why it looks like this, and how i can make it look how it's supposed to look?

Que? Honestly the system isn't really any more difficult than the default...

I couldn't begin to guess what might have gone wrong.

I believe perhaps you have to check the bump textures...

Turn down a bit of the "eyecandy" to reduce the load on your video card's memory...

it even shows up this way (but black) in the sandbox window, and the card has nothing to display but the aircraft. if it was that much of a frame hitter someone would have mentioned it, i would think. the frame hit doesn't show in the sim. it just doesn't load right. i also have the same problem with the FSX paint of the 747 from avsim. it's only the white default 747 with the letters "FSX" painted on the side of it. i don't think it's the card.

i don't understand what you mean?

Make sure that you have a texture.cfg file in every one of the ..\texture.n folders, and that it has the following entries:
Code:
[fltsim]
fallback.1=..\texture
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\Texture
fallback.4=..\..\\Bombardier_CRJ_700\texture

The correct texture.cfg file should be present, but check them anyway.

Note that some of the parts in the model depend on textures from the default "Bombardier_CRJ_700," so if you've deleted and/or modified the default aircraft you will experience problems.

Normally, "exploded parts" and/or "black a/c in the Preview window" are caused by missing and/or corrupted textures...

This is what I meant by weird. Any idea what causes it?

At a guess, I'd say that the modeling scale between the XRS's interior model and the CRJ-700's interior model are incompatible. The fact that your eyepoint is low, and that the "vc parts" are WAY too big points to that as being the proximate cause.

Eyepoint; adjust via the aircraft.cfg.

NO!

- Bufferpools set too high.
- SP2 model in SP1.
- DX10 preview.
- Faulty textures.
- Bad driver.

But it never is and never has been the sliders!
If FSX otherwise runs as it should and one add-on causes trouble why should the sliders (exception: DX10 preview) be the culprit?

(Not meant to step on your toes, Bill but everytime I read that "Back down your settings" tip I nearly turn into the Hulk.)

thanks for trying to help me.
i just checked, and i do have all of the cfgs, and they all show the entry you pasted above. the only thing i ever did to my default crj was to add a couple of air canada jazz paints that i later deleted because they weren't that good.
anything else i should check?
