FSX Douglas C-117D Skytrooper

Leather Seats Sounds Good

This was a TOTAL experiment since this is a complete VC cockpit and I have never done this before. I worked with Model Converter X to find what determined how the cockpit was put together. Then I went to the textures and found the seats, clipboard and side panels. Then I played around with repainting the seats and that was a disaster. I learned in Sketchup working the last 3 months on NAS Alameda a lot and decided to try something which I think worked out pretty well. It uses interior designer tricks in my drawing program and Paintshop Pro. Here are two shots of my new cockpit in the C117D Miramar. I love the smell of new leather! LOL.

Just Finished Reading

I went through this entire thread just to be sure that I didn't duplicate anyone's work. I had the photo of this tucked away and got the info I needed at the VT-29 Vets site from a few guys who work on it. This is a TC117D assigned to Training Squadron 29 at NAS Corpus Christi in 1960s. Again thanks to GMAN for using his Keflavik paint for the basis. This one is for CG_1976 and anyone else who has been waiting for it. It is over at the Warbirds Library as well as the NAS Midway Atoll and NAS Miramar repaints.

SuperGoonie at NAS Miramar

Thanks Richard for this paint :encouragement:
I'm using the MileHighSims version of NAS Miramar
It depicts the best known military airfield in the world in it's glorious times : The Naval Air Station Miramar (Mitscher Field) also known as TOP GUN / California Fightertown !!
The scenery represent the NAS in the late 80's, when the movie Top Gun was shot;

Anyone interested in this scenery:

I like it :encouragement: Wish the vvc panel of V3 DC3 would work with the $117 :biggrin-new:
