FSX Flying Boats

SOH-CM-2024
After flying the Aerosoft Catalina, I'd like to add some flying boats to my hangar. The only other model I have is the Martin Mars from AlphaSim. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations, either freeware or paypare, and preferably FSX native.
Although not written for FSX, one model which caught my eye is the B314 from Pilots. However I refuse to pay 47.59 Euros ($67.27) for something which is essentially a FS2002 model. If only Aerosoft would follow up their Cat with a fully native B314. If only.

give it a couple more weeks and that default goose you got is gonna take on a whole nuther personality .. Plus theres the Alby from alphasim, and the duck which was covered in another thread here..

Not a flying boat but, its floating as well and genuine FSX:

And I haven't tried Stuart Green's Sunderland in FSX, but it is definitely an aircraft I would really love to see in FSX.

And Jens B. Kristensen did some civil flying boats which will most probably work quite well in FSX (when he has not yet already converted them into FSX.)

And the judging the teasing pictures I have seen from this project so far, it is really worth to wait on this one!

What's about this little bird? The Nardi F-333 by Mario Noriega, upgraded with a panel update (here at SOH) it's makes a really fine ride.

a Blohm & Voss Bv-138 would be something to see in FSX....ofcourse some one would then need to make a U-Boot for it to tend to....

I did a native floatplane some time ago, I know it's not a flying boat, however you may like it :) search for rxiiifsx.zip at flightsim.com.

The attachment is in FSX with some mods to cover up the small problems that ports have and some fresh paint.

i would love to see a sunderland or a solent for fsx.

seems to me, with all the piracy, a sunderland would be waaaayyy cooler than going on a cruise

I would love to see a nicely modelled Sunderland too with bombs/torps that slid out of the fuselage on racks. Jens did a good job of the Sandringham which was the post-war civilian version converted from the original Sunderlands.

I'll second this ( except for the u-boot ). The BV-138 was one of the best thought out designed and built seaplanes of the second world war.. From the service step built into the wing to the marine lockers for extra rope and tackle, it was a wonderful plane..
I also wish someone would consider making it..

Saunder Roe SR-A1 by Kazunori Ito, Jet Fighter flying boat only 3 prototypes built, works fine in FSX.

These are my own what if paints.

I've been waiting for an FSX Boeing 314. The Pilots 314 doesn't work in FSX. In addition to all the ones previously mentioned, Alphasim has a Martin Mars which is really nice.

the sandringham was actualy what i was thinking of, but somehow i have this bad habit of thinking "civvie sunderland" instead of the more correct sandringham. :icon_lol:

Waterbirds

I would like to see the Canadair waterbombers done up for FSX. Both the 215 and 415T are lovely beasts in my eyes. Being able to to have the weights change on waterdrop and pickup would be real cool.
I was watching the Manitoba government 215s practicing pickups and drops on Lake Winnipeg the other day. The roar of those R-2800s when they pickup water is marvelous. There are 2 CL215s and a Cessna 310 birddog based here at Gimli.

Regards, Rob:ernae:

I have the alphasim PBM-3/5 Mariner from FS9 that works in FSX (at least sp1) but I wish they would give it a full FSX upgrade.
