Moin guys,

anybody knows good freeware stuff and airports for the south pacific area?
Fiji,Tonga, Solomon Islands or French Polynesia for example?

There's some nice photoscenery of the island of Niue I can't post a link via my phone for some reason but if you go to flights.com and search anything by Tiberius Kowalski you might find what you're looking for I think he has done many

Hooky

Look for sceneries by Lawrie Roache at Flightsim.com. He's done quite a few airport sceneries in the South Pacific.

Cheers,
Steve :wavey:

South Pacific is one of my favourite places to fly in FSX. I spent 8 years over there (NWWM), so I'm a bit home-sick from time to time...

Marc Guitteny has a nice New Caledonia scenery, with a bit of photoreal textures for Noumea, and Orbx-like landclass for the rest of the islands. Works well with Lawrie Roache airports (check out "La Tontouta" @ flightsim):

Tiberius Kowalski, Scenery Dude, and Diaphenous, these three developpers have made great photoreal sceneries like Palmyra, Kiribati, Cook Islands, Tokelau, etc... Begin with Kowalski's Cook Islands, not too big, and really immersive (simviation):

This new French Polynesia payware scenery seems really nice (from the guy who made the freeware Hawaii Photoreal). At 15 euros (16 USD) I think it's worth considering. I have to try it, maybe I deserve it for X-Mas?

There's a sale going on at Flight Sim Jewels so I've just bought Society Islands (French Polynesia). Nice! So far V1 has only 9 islands (9.99 euros). You'll get the full package at no additionnal charge later (5 more islands).

As said before, Tiberius Kowalski's freeware Cook and Pitcairn Island are really beautiful...

For hilly places like Pitcairn or Rarotonga, you'll need a good mesh. FreeMeshX is pretty big but worth the bandwith...

I know this is an old thread, but what atoll is shown in the image below? Looks interesting.....

Thanks,

Moin guys,

Yep I think I have everything available for the Pacific as that is where i sim fly and personally spent a lot of my life on an off for real so I have a keen eye for the scenery there.
For Fiji, Tiberius Kowalski for the Western Area and Laurie Roach for the main airports.
Tonga there are a few just do a search for Tonga.
Tahiti has been done by quite a few folks, so it is a matter of whom you think does the best but there is a Tuvelo X A and B which is superb.
Solomon Islands, there is a really great freeware Solomon Islands X they have their own web site.
Raratonga there are a few.
Vanuatu there are a few.
New Caledonia there are some good free ware airports and scenery available.
Samoa, American Samoa has a specialist realist but the Eastern non US protectorate is not available.
Kirbati is available.
Nieu is available.
Easter Island is available.
Cook Islands are available.
Guam, Midway, Johnston Atoll are all available.

The only area I have not done yet is Hawaii but I do not go there often preferring the arc from Australia through to Easter Island but there is great Hawaiian stuff available as well.

Basically you can cover the whole Pacific which I have done starting with Japan and working across the Aleutians and then southwards all the way to Antartica.

I only can offer one word of advice, If you really want the Pacific and the rest of the world to shine then you have to have ORBX Global and Global Vector. Orbx has fixed up the landmass outlines and by turning down the autogen you get a very very good representation of the Pacific. There is another addon I use REX Weather because it also allows you to modify the ocean and water textures particularly the coral areas, most of the scenery show bright blue bits near most places but reality is that this is not that common and places like Tonga and Tahiti are surrounded by deep water as are there harbours, so with Rex I have been able to get a most common set of these type of textures which gives a real feel to what you see.

Most of the above freeware stuff is in the airport category with the exception of Tahiti, Tuvalu, the Solomons and parts of Fiji.

If you would like a detailed list I will see what I can do for you.

Flight Sim Jewels have released a few days ago the complete package "Society Islands (French Polynesia)" with 5 new islands, including the main island of Tahiti (wow), as well as Moorea (fabulous), Tetiaora (Marlon Brando's island), Maiao (a weird remote atol) and Mehetia (a forgotten volcano). Not freeware, but it's so beautiful and so well done, you should really consider it if you're serious about flight simming in the Pacific.

I found on an old hard-drive a copy of Lady Musgrave Island by Richard Bui, aka Wild Weasel from Vectorial Sceneries.

It's very nice up close, but without ORBX Australia or a darker shade of ocean blue, it's a bit dispointing from afar...

It should look like this:

This scenery is lost unfortunately. Not sure if I can upload Lady_Musgrave_V1.0.zip here, for those interested... Any advice? Is Richard reading this?

Lady Musgrave Island (Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, OZ) is available again! Seems like the author heard our call for help and re-upload her! Merci Richard!

Go there and select FSX/P3D: https://vecscen.com/ Scroll down a bit and here you go...

I've reactivated my old ORBX/FTX Australia V1 scenery and it looks much better now. I've discovered that the file "Orbx_Waterclass_Region20_Base.bgl" is the only one necessary to get this nice dark blue waterclass... So no need to reinstall the whole FTX AU package (in case you have an old backup lying somewhere).
