Hey guys,

Recently, someone posted on his grim results from having made or purchased a new gaming computer just for FSX. The new computer couldnt run it. I shared the feeling as I have gone through 3 new computers and non run FSX well. Twitches, convulsions, jitters, hops, you name it... It drove me crazy. I couldnt fly in FSX for more then 10 or 15 min's without booting out and taking medications to cool me down.

Well.. Bob Rivera suggested one turns down their 'texture bandwidth' and see how that helps. His was at 40 and he turned his down to 10 and it had amazing results.

Well, from my FS9 days, you cranked that setting up, tremendously, and it would help FS9 to run smoother. I looked in my installation and found my setting at 400, lol.. Well, its right if it were FS9, correct? I turned it down to 10.

VOILA! Eureka! (jumped up on the desk and danced a jig) wooo hoooooo!

No stutters, no hops, no clouds that disappear and then reappear right in front of you.

My iMac (Apple Computer) runs FSX quite well now.

Who would have thought it was that setting??? arrgh. :kilroy:

Good to see you've got it running smoothly now.

If it gets you out of FS9 more, it can't be too bad!:173go1::ernae::engel016:

I don't see/can't find anything that looks like that...:isadizzy:

I don't think the texture_bandwidth_multi entry is in the Cfg file by default. My memory isn't great but I'm pretty sure I had to add the line myself.

LOL, It works for some and did mine wonders, have no clue why, it was just shooting in the dark because I had tried higher and higher numbers only to have worse effects. It should be in your main FSX.cfg file, it always has been in mine so that's strange. :ernae::applause:

Its in all FSX config files...

XP...its in

Local Disk C
Documents and settings
Application Data
Miscrosoft
FSX

Its basically the same for Vista but its in Roaming under Application Data.....

In my case, reducing texture bandwidth from 40 to 10 did eliminate the stutters, but aircraft and ground textures became rather blurry. Anyone else have the same problem?

Its in XP

C/ Documents & Settings / User Name / App data /
Miscrosoft / FSX

On my XP system:

C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\

(Same as Vista)
