FSX National Boundaries

A few here may not think highly of the following question, but I wish to be prepared to maintain an accurate global representation in FSX, simple as that...

Keeping in mind global events, and having insight into what to expect in the coming hours/days, how does one go about modifying international boundaries (country boundaries) in FSX?
This would include placing a selection of airfields under the jurisdiction of a different country (either a new country or another existing country).

Thank you.

If you're referring to airports in particular, you can use the BGL Compiler tool in the SDK to create new airports. The country is stored in the country attribute of the Airport element. However, there is a separate Geopol element (with child elements of type Vertex), that defines geopolitical boundaries. I'm not sure what that data is used for, though. If you prefer using a GUI instead of manually editing XML files and using a command line tool, Airport Design Editor is a good tool.

And at the risk of sounding ignorant (I don't pay much attention to political news), what are you expecting to happen in the coming hours/days?

There's currently a situation in Ukraine that may end with Crimea joining Russia or becoming an independent state (there is a vote today). Likely the former. There has been quite a bit of news coverage over the potential for a war to break out between Russia and Ukraine.
