FSX on SSD drive

I'm still unsure what to use the SSD for it I should get one. It's either purely for FSX or purely for 7 or a mixed use (which would take up nearly all the space on a 128Gb SSD though).

At least my emergency plan already stands: Replacing the effin' slow HDD in my Thinkpad. :d

Load times are dramatically reduced when starting a flight. The pauses at certain percentages are never more than a second or so, even with UT USA active. I have both the OS and FSX on SSD; I actually have a pair of 80GB SSDs in RAID, which makes them even faster, and gives me enough room for Win 7, FSX, and a few of the slower-loading apps such as Photoshop CS4.

Netbook SSDs run at a fraction of the speed of the X-25M, and most notebook SSDs are a bit slower as well. Neither's really a good indication of the speedup it can provide.

Nick, genuine question...what are Alpine like ? I'm in the market for a new high-end PC once Windows 7 is released and they are on the list of potential suppliers.

Are they easy to contact ? For example, I'd like to get more details on the dimensions of the case they use.

Any info gratefully received. :)

They're great Paul and you'll be in good company as Paul employees another Paul too!

So three Pauls in all...its like the planets coming into alignment, a sign of great portent.

Seriously though, thanks for that Nick, and the link to the photos. A personal recommendation is worth a hundred pages of advertising in my opinion, so I will definitely approach them for a quote.

Cheers matey ! :ernae:
