FSX | ORBX The World's First 2cm/pixel Airport!

Nice video! I purchased this scenery as soon as it went on sale...and it is absolutely stunning! I live little run-down airfields that ooze personality...And Stewart is phenomenal!

Thanks mate ... i haven't had a scenery that looks like this ... it absolutely blew me out of my chair ... the detail is just amazingly real!

It's very possible the mesh resolution needs to be changed to fix that - ORBX specifies exactly what settings to use to make the scenery work, some of them are mandatory, I think mesh is one. Should be in the read me.

edit - just checked, make sure mesh setting is 5m.

Thanks Barfly,
I checked and I did set it to 5m, the problem I have is mentioned in the CZST Manual.

My fault I should have ****!

Bruce.

A nice little airfield, sure, but at 1GB :icon_eek: it doesn't take too many to fill my FTX/ORBX dedicated 250GB SSD, so I'm leaving this one alone. Regards.

Luvly... but as an outsider I find the lack of aircraft ground shadows totally perplexing.
Why are there no ground shadows when you have all the rest of that amazing detail??

I have aircraft ground shadows, have you got the box ticked in aircraft settings?

Bruce.

I don't have FSX, was just driving by...

I keep seeing videos made in FSX, which do not have ground shadows.
Surely by now, there are computers that can run FSX planes with ground shadows enabled, without grinding to a shuddering halt?

In the video above, at 1:03 the scenery is all very shadowy and high-res 2cm/pixel textures.
But there's an elephant in the room.
The aircraft, which surely is what it's ultimately all about, does not cast a ground shadow!

Any "suspension of disbelief" just vaporised, right here.

Aircraft shadows enabled can also cause some planes to dissapear, its not just FPS hit, which is why most have it disabled. and for me i never look at the shadows i fly planes so dont miss them.

I have aircraft shadows enabled, and never encountered an instance of disappearing aircraft. I wouldn't be able to fly without shadows..I kow it seems silly but it kinda makes the most difference while being a simple thing...I do not use the ground scenery shadows checkbox though....

You are correct ... systems these days handle it well ... however, when it comes to making a video shadows can sometimes disapear during a shot and therefore you might wanna turn it off ... in this case the box was checked and the shadow should have shown but for some reason it didn't ... and this video is about the scenery and not so much about the plane :)
