I do not recall any discussion on the pros and cons of upping FSX's priority. Accessed by the Task Manager/ Right click on FSX.exe and selecting "Above Normal", "High" and "Real Time".
The reason I ask is, tonight FSX showed "Not Responding" as it often does when it is loading the huge amount of files I have accrued. Usually if left to its own devices, it sorts itself out and starts. This time it seemed to be taking extra time, so I fired up the Task Manager, selected processes and changed the FSX.exe from Normal to High. This within seconds caused FSX to load to the menu screen. Now that may have been coincidental of course, and hand on heart I could not swear to improved performance of the sim, but back to my point. I have not ever seen discussion on the merits of these settings.
Who knows or who has experimented with this and what does the Real Time setting mean, is that just a super duper HIGH setting.
A quick review of other programs in the processes list reveals they all seem to be on NORMAL, which leads to another point, if they are all NORMAL, then why bother having the other settings at all.
TIA
