FSX reinstall

noddy

SOH-CM-2025
I have reinstalled FSX, but cannot activate. How do you go about getting this to work?

Many thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy:wavey:

The last time I did it, FSX spat out a window saying I'd exceeded my activations but included a telephone number. I dialled the number and I think I had to give it the reg off the sleeve. It gave me an alternative and that was pretty much it. Didn't speak to anyone.. the process was automated.

The message from DaveB is right on. I reinstalled over a year ago and went through the same procedure. Seems I had some difficulty with Acceleration as well.

Ok so have find the phone number for the UK. How does it work on the phone activation, I know when you load FSX it prompts you to enter code and takes you to the page where you have a choice of online, phone etc. What do you do from there?

Sorry for the questions but it just so damn frustrating!

The whole process sounds odd to me.
I've re-installed FSX Gold several times for the usual reasons (new hard drive, new OS installation, new PC etc) and its just been punch in the codes and up and away.
Just typical MS nastiness, they don't support FSX anyway.
My grumpy 2c worth.

Hi Andy:)

It's not a five minute process as I remember. The automated voice will ask for the first letter and you enter that on the telephone keypad.. then the second.. then the third e t c and when you've done that with all the characters.. it spits out a replacement code. You don't need to have FSX or ACC (good point Tom.. I had it with ACC too) running as you don't need to activate it immediately but you can do if you wish. I've found the note I made at the time for FSX Deluxe and ACC and I'd written next to the numbers, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H so I'm guessing this is how they were read out by the automated voice. I note also that the characters read back are all numbers rather than a mixture of numbers and letters.. not that this matters. I wasn't convinced it would work but it did.

Again DaveB is right on. Many of Microsoft's programs have this registration process of a group of numbers. It just takes a short time and seems to work perfectly. Once a program like FSX get a little weathered, most will run out of the given number of reinstall options. Don't get frustrated, just call the number and you should be up and running in no time.

Yippee, got FSX and Acceleration running :jump:. Now the process of adding the scenery back etc.

Take a while, but got there eventually.

Well done mate:applause:

Now.. if you're like I was, I showed a lot of restraint putting stuff back. Now, some months later.. I have more aircraft installed, I have to keep moving great numbers of them out to help speed up 'Select Aircraft':banghead: D'oh!!
