FSX:SE frustrating visual glitch

Hello, I am having a very frustrating problem with FSX:SE that I am unable to resolve. When I load aircraft that are low to the ground, like a glider or the freeware Icon A5 you can find on Rikoooo for example, there is this visual ring that surrounds the pilot's head. The two screenshots show the default DG-808 glider, in the first image, I am looking down, in the second image, I am looking back and to the lower right. This only seems to occur when I am on the runway or sitting in the water (like in the A5), as soon as I take off, it disappears.

I tried everything to fix this that I could think of. I even completely uninstalled FSX:SE, plus all my add-ons as well as all leftover files like in the AppData folders and ProgramData folder to make sure I did a clean reinstall, with no add-ons and I still have this issue. I am not sure what else to do to fix this. I would greatly appreciate any advice or assistance to help me fix this problem. If there's any additional information I can provide, please let me know.

FSX is still one of my favorite sims and I desperately want this problem fixed.

Thank you

Hello Kalnon. I looks, to me, like your VC view point is either too far aft or too high or both. I would try adjusting the view point, in very small increments, forward first. If that doesn’t work try lowering it in small increments. Hope this helps.

The viewpoint in the screenshots is the default viewpoint for the FSX DG-808 glider, I did not adjust it in any way. I never had this issue before, even when I do adjust the pilot's viewpoint in an aircraft unless I'm clipping through the seat or the walls or roof of the aircraft which does not seem to be the case here.

I will give it a try anyway though and I do appreciate your suggestion, thank you.

Ok, I just gave it a try and no luck. I tried moving the viewpoint down and in all other directions but it didn't help unfortunately.

Have you inadvertently moved your eyepoint using the keyboard commands and the sim has remembered your changes? Here are the default keyboard commands to move the eyepoint rather than editing the aircraft.cfg file:

Eyepoint (move back)

CTRL+ENTER

Eyepoint (move down)

SHIFT+BACKSPACE

Eyepoint (move forward)

CTRL+BACKSPACE

Eyepoint (move left)

CTRL+SHIFT+BACKSPACE

Eyepoint (move right)

CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER

Eyepoint (move up)

SHIFT+ENTER

Eyepoint (reset)

CTRL+SPACE

A simple case of 'fat fingering' the keyboard while doing something else could be a possible cause. I've done it a few times when I've reached for a key without looking and accidentally hit something else instead.

I pulled that table from a full list of the default commands which can be found here and is available to download: https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/1333/fsx-controls-keyboard-commands/

Thank you for your reply but I have not edited any configuration files. When I move the viewpoint, I only use the keyboard commands that you have listed. Also, I should point out, as I said before, this is not only with this glider, it happens with all gliders and other aircraft that are low to the ground and once I lift off from the runway or ground, the ring disappears.

Edit: I should also mention again that this is with a fresh, brand new FSX:SE installation with no changes made by me at all. I simply downloaded the sim and ran it, and with no mods of any kind, I did nothing else.

Well, that's quite a find!
Do not adjust your set. It's not you!
I was using FSX Deluxe (boxed), T_K in FSX-SE
T_K and I just tried it - in the DGS808, and a couple of other gliders, then a couple of low aircraft. In those that are sitting very low, it's there.
If the aircraft is a bit higher, and that means inches... it's not present.
What is it? It appears to be a "hole" of some kind because what you see is the surface below the aircraft! in the attached pics (DGS-808) all I had to was pan down (looking toward my lap). In the first image you see bands of different colours (white/grey) in the second you see what they are.. the arrow on the runway marking a displaced threshold.
How to fix it? All I can say is don't look at your lap! I tried adjusting the eyepoint in the a/c .cfg and it didn't resolve it.frustrating visual glitch-1.pngfrustrating visual glitch-2.png

I noticed that the problem was worse if I zoomed backwards with the hat switch. If I stayed closer to the panel and looked down the problem didn't appear, it only appeared if I zoomed out/back and then looked down. It happened in several gliders in my hangar including one I modelled myself which I never noticed in beta testing because I never zoomed back that far!

I must say that this issue is...

Since it only happens with aircraft that sit particularly low to the ground or water, I wonder if this is related to how FSX models the curvature of the earth vs the flat plane upon which runways, taxiways, and aprons must be displayed? Basically, if the flat plane is not at an elevation above what the curvature would create, you get this graphic anomaly.

What I find very strange is that I've flown lots of gliders in FSX (mostly thanks to Wolfgang Piper and his awesome freeware gliders), and I've never had this issue until fairly recently. If I am not the only one having this problem, I wonder if it could be some kind of issue related to a recent Windows 10 update or perhaps a gpu driver update or something? There definitely has to be something that changed in order for this to be happening all of a sudden. I've been using FSX for many years and have never seen it before.

Edit: I should also note that I am using gliders in P3Dv5 too (including the FSX DG-808) and the issue does not exist in that simulator.
