FSX Sea Fury....

There has been some comments from some in a couple of threads about there been no top quality true FSX Sea Fury..also someone made the comment that the market is difficult to quantify for such a model with compared to say a Spitfire or Mustang (which we have more than one alternative)

I was reading an article of the Sea Fury yesterday and ..there were a lot more countries used them than many people may relaise..may provide food for thought for a developer out there:

Royal Navy
Royal Australian Navy
Dutch Navy
Royal Canadian Navy
Pakistan Air Force
Burmese Air Force
Iraq Air Force
Cuban Air Force
Egyptian Air Force

Plus there are plenty of Sea Furys flying in the warbird circuit around the world including the US..then there are the racing Sea Furys but most of those are highly modified and dont have the orginal Centaurus engine....

. . .and that's a true statement for sure. . .there are zero FSX models at present

It's not hard to qualify at all really, I've seen many posts asking about aircraft we'd like to see for FSX that we don't have yet and the Sea Fury is always included. Show me documented research and not just hearsay and I might change that opinion, but for now I see the Sea Fury as a very viable aircraft for the payware market.

A repainters dream to be sure, plus all the variants that could be done as well. Yep, I've expressed my opinion about the Mustang, won't pursue that any more, but to infer that the Sea Fury wouldn't be ripe for the payware market? Please!

The Sea Fury is one I would love to model, along with the F8F. The apex of piston engine fighters! Sadly my dance card is a bit full at the moment. Both would be great warbirds and Reno racers though.

If you don't see your favourite plane modelled for FS, remember there are literally thousands of planes that existed, and we yet to have thousands of FS dev's...

Indeed, dont forget the "H" model mustang, right up there with the best. And how about the "RB-51" for a reno racer?

Your right about that, as far as I know there are no more bristol centarus spares to be had anywhere. The west german air force had a number of furys as target tugs until 1962 with a fair amount of spare parts IIRC.

Maybe this thread might attract the attention of Dan Dunn, since he left Alphasim, he seems to be the sole payware developer concentrating on British warbirds.

I too would think it would sell, it looks stunning, has the capabilty of shooting down a Mig15 (Korean War) and some of the modified racers are outrageous! There are also some well documented aircraft still flying for reference purposes.

How about 'Ultimate Props' a boxed set of the Sea Fury and the Bearcat, both military and racers! I would think that that would sell shedloads!!!

P-80 vs Mig-15 was the first jet-2-jet victory. I love the P-80. Is there a good P-80/T-33 for FSX?

I'd give my right arm or a leg for a Sea Fury or a Tempest II!
The pilot who shot down the mig 15 in the Sea Fury was called Lt Peter "Hoagy" Carmichael and it was on the 8 August 1952.
Its a gorgeous aircraft no doubts there!

Beautiful stuff.... Did any one here go to flying legends this year? there were two beautiful sea furies there... that new french one is simply suitible to drool over LOL

I think a Skyraider got one too, but could be wrong on that.

Yep, that battle got featured in an episode of "Dogfights". Was somewhen in the early days of 'Nam, around '65-'66.

Nope.

This would be the point where I would post a link to GMax, but I guess you don't need one. :icon_lol:

The "elevated" cockpit ruins its lines for me, thus I prefer its land-based almost-sibling.

I didn't get there this year but I heard it was a good show!
Well here is my brief review of legends...

I am a regular visitor to Legends each year and last year was (2008), well in my opinion the finest warbird airshow to date. So with the standard so high, it was interesting to see what duxford could offer. Unfortunatly the shows organisers "The Fighter collection" were having problems with the CAA (Campaign against aviation) and had had their fleet grounded...so no corsairs, hellcats or bearcats :( . But an enormous amount of flown in aircraft attended such as the new FW190 and Biltema's P-51 "it's about time". The quality of the displays were excellent and the horsemen stunned. However the overall organisation of the show was somewhat consfused, and the commentry was abismel...
Never mindings these odds, the show proved it's self to be a real cracker and Stephen grey did his bit very in the sea fury...
