• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

While in the States I have taken the plunge and bought FSX Gold edition. I thought there was a sticky or other entry here for a ultimate/definitive FSX set up and config guide - particularly how to optimise fps and other performance perameters but can't seem to find it.

There was but we had a server meltdown/Hacker attack and everythingwas lost.
Hopefully it will be replaced.

That is because the forum was hacked and all the info was lost...

Yea it really bites..but the info is starting to appear slowly again....



To start... Defragg your HDD first..

Install FSx...register it and load a flight and fly for a minute to allow textures to fully load.... Then quit and Defragg again..


Then install Acceleration and do the same as above..register, fly, quit and defragg....


Then see where you.re at and get back for set up help....

Thanks guys. Maybe - just maybe - some SOH member copied and pasted some of the contents and backed it up somewhere . . .
 
Just a follow up to say I installed FSX yesterday without a hitch and and am enjoying smooth 30 fps flights. Many thanks to Harleyman for his helpful advice and suggested settings. Much more more tweaking, adding-on to do . . :jump:
