You don't have to install until you want it.

But this the best price so far and on many systems (Win 8.1 anyway) it is a vastly improved product over the old boxed FSX Gold.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to let my daughter know as she is to buy this for my grandson and I'll be taking care of getting a HOTAS and unlocking his copy of FSUIPC. He's been wanting to fly with me for years and now he's old enough to do so. Since he lives over one hundred miles from me this is one of the few ways I have to keep involved with him. I think his sister wants to do this too so I may have my whole family online one day.

I was having multiple problems with the boxed edition on win 8.1. Worth the &5 to me. Only thing is, trying to get my orbx stuff loaded. Goes to fsx instead of fsx se. May have to get rid of the old one soon.

Been fine, had to step away from simming for a while but I'm getting back into it. I try to set up a server on Steam for MP, look for Black Lagoon and that's me.
