FSX & The Saitek X52

Hi guys

After having problems with my yoke & pedals, I finally got myself the standard X52 stick & throttle.

I'd be very grateful for help and advice about setting up for FSX and what buttons and axis you use for what?

Many thanks

EDIT: I can't seem to get access at the saitek forum:-(

As far as what buttons to assign to commands, I think thats something entirely based on your own opinion. If you fly fighters, or anything with a speed brake/spoiler I would highly recommend adding that as an axis on your throttle slider.

All you really need assigned to your buttons are basic commands like gear, flaps, and trim. I also have zoom set on my throttle. Right now I am waiting for my trackIR to arrive, so I have eyepoint reset and zoom reset on my stick just to make it easier when I look around. If you're into commercial or cargo aircraft maybe add some autopilot controls. Just use whatever buttons you find yourself using the most.

Hi dougal95,

You shouldn't need the Saitek forum to get up and running - the drivers and SST Software are available off the website http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php

I found the SST software very intuative when programming basic key commands, but the more advanced commands like sensitivity etc. means looking at the manual a few dozen times [in my case]!

The manual is well written [in my opinion] and only nine pages [phew...]. If I can learn how to program the X52 then you can :salute:. Get the manual here http://www.saitek.com/manuals/SST_Manual_En.pdf

As Merlin216 said, you're better assigning the key commends that suit you. I could send you my X52 setup for FSX, but you may not like or need the commands I've chosen [like 'press T5 button for stewardess :jump:].

Hope you get sorted,

Dave.
